In our world scarred by the evils of state terrorism, like in Ukraine, humanity needs more of these wonderful scientists whose intelligence and ingenuity can save so many lives.

she had a passion for organic chemistry, while taking pre-medicine courses at Harvard.
The subject is notoriously -- many say fiendishly -- difficult
Robert Morrison and Robert Boyd made the difficult subject of organic chemistry easy for me during my school days.
Thanks to these two noble souls.

One of the best things about scientific discoveries is that they are meant to be as open and public as possible, which means things like the bioorthogonal chemistry described can become pieces of other discoveries and advances the moment they are published.
One scientist can have a very specific problem for his research, and sometimes the solution he finds for that problem can be much more important than his original goal because other scientists with variate interests could use that solution to solve countless similar problems.

Except when they are not, such as when a country guards its discoveries for secrecy purposes related to the security of the country.
"So that allows the oncologist to treat the tumor and kill the tumor without exposing the person's entire body to a toxic chemical," she says.
This is a key advancement.

That does absolutely nothing to refute what is written, that is the actual purpose of sientific discoveries, what happens on a minority of the cases in any way represents that discoveries are not "meant to be as open and public as possible". That is exactly how progress is made, and it includes things that at any point were done in secret, because they end up becoming public knowledge at some point.
