Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine: A doctor explains why benefits far outweigh risks

The important parts from the article are two.

One is that even taking into account TTS the J&J vaccine is much safer than not vaccinating because COVID-19 infection itself means a much higher risk from clotting problems (not to mention other complications and death).

The second is that this kind of situation is why it is so important to develop, test and use as many vaccines as possible, for the companies this is a risk because they will have to enter competition and maybe lose a lot of money, but for the public it is better to have options and be able to choose, all the vaccines are less risky than COVID-19, but if your personal situation makes one vaccine even less risky than others then it is a good thing that you can choose.

Good information, but little use in Japan where the J&J vaccine has not been approved and probably never will be.

The vaccines not proven to be safe and that is why the FDA does not approve them.

Where there is risk there must be choice without negative consequences. Let everyone decide for themselves.

The blood clots developed in J&J vaccine are called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). It is an extremely rare illness, so there is no doubt it has been caused by vaccination. The same blood clot problem has been reported earlier for Astra-Zeneca vaccine. As of end of March, about 20 countries halted use of AZ vaccine, and said more study is necessary to authorize the use of AZ vaccine.

J&J vaccine should not be authorized for use in Japan in this situation.

Any source about that? because unfortunately people most of the time talk about people without qualifications or data trying to mislead others. How about a well recognized medical or scientific institution saying that the benefits do not outweight (by much) the risks?

As long as people deal with the consequences of that choice (specially if it is irrational) that is fine. Being still subjected to strong social distancing measures because of rejecting the alternative is a very easy to understand consequence.

Yes it should, because the condition the vaccine prevents (COVID-19) is a much more frequent case of death by pathogenic clotting. That means that the longer a person is without being vaccinated the more in danger this person is of dying from clots. In countries with plenty of options of options a person can choose other vaccines that represent even lower risks, but in Japan this is not true, the default option right now is to be infected and have a much higher chance of complications and death.
