Although Korean plastic surgery is technically very good, it is too good in a way that everyone turns out looking the same. This is what worries me the most.

Why does Korea always seem to be a hot topic in a Japanese news site?

Child:”Mom, why am I the only ugly duckling in the family?" Mother:"Just wait till you turn 18, then the nice doctor will turn you too into a swan".

That's just the way Koreans are. Always competitive, always vain and always wanting to look good and that means to look good, you need to have westernized features.its just engrained in them. Parents often give money to the kids as a graduation present so that they can get and do the surgery they want. Just watch ANY Korean soap opera and you will see, virtually, ever woman has been under the knife. And they are proud of it. Just like the old Korean ladies that dye their hair jet Black, cut it ear-length short and perm it curly, again, almost all Korean women do this. Just indoctrinated and the culture.

"Just like the old Korean ladies that dye their hair jet Black, cut it ear-length short and perm it curly, again, almost all Korean women do this." Aww yes you are referring to the ajumma look. ^o^ Yeah I've never really seen any other older (married) asian women do this, only Koreans, whether they are living in Korea or elsewhere...

This article offers a bit more insight. Koreans in general have rather large heads compared to their bodies and they are very self-conscious about this fact. It is unfortunate that they feel the need to cut their face in order to get that "western" look : small face, double eyelids.

A lot of people in South Korea go under the knife,to them its probably like going to the dentist which I find pretty sad that people feel the need to change the way they look. I notice how many people "break their nose" which allows them to get a nose job whereas in the western world we would just get a plaster and let the bone heal. The entertainment industry is partly to blame, those groups targeted to the teens with their perfect smiles, v-chins,high nose bridges etc aren't helping but then again this is what makes the entertainment industry thrive. In Miss Korea 2013, the women honestly all look the same! How do they pick? The compliment, is your mother your sister must not be effective the ROK

What's even more disturbing is the leg lengthening surguries that koreans are undergoing. I'm not going to describe it here as it sounds rather painful and dangerous. http://janetnewenham.wordpress.com/tag/leg-lengthening/

Why in Korea EVERYTHING has to be either fake or a copy??? Come on!!!

I think Koreans look fine without artificial help.

True. Indeed, they really seem all the same, and NOT because they are Asians (stupid stereotype of some white people), but because of plastic surgery. When I see a Korean girlbands, I can't distinguish the girls between them. All perfect theet (and they seem all the same, it's not like they have different forms at least), same noses and shape of faces. Japanese artists get some plastic surgery for sure (specially on the eyes) but at least they keep some faults and you can distinguish, for example, Tomomi Itano from Atsuko Maeda.

This epidemic among Koreans is disturbing. The women start to resemble each other like clones. What's also ironic is when a woman gets her double eyelids, noselift, jaw-grind surgery, etc. and gets married and have kids, the children will look nothing like her. When that child grows up, most likely she'll also go under the knife like her mom and the cycle continues. Pretty messed up.

Why does Japan always seem to be a hot topic in a South Korean news site? Indeed I find tons of articles about Japan in the South Korean news sites. Maybe it's because they are neighboring countries, don't you think? We can say the same about China. But also other countries get their articles, so maybe you are only paying attention mainly to the articles about South Korea.

The good looking dancers and singers of their top K-pop group - Girls Generation or SNSD - are products of the Korean Operating theatre. A few websites have run before and after images of these K-pop stars.

why do Japanese news site care so much about what goes on in Korea and Koreans?...hilarious.

Happens all over the world - neighbouring countries always like to present 'weird' stories about each other... and with Korea you get weirdness on tap.

I'll never understand why Asian women want to look like western women.

Yesterday I was shocked to be confronted with a woman at a front desk who looked normal until she opened her mouth to smile...one "eye tooth" was waaaay up there in the middle of her gums! Why the heck she or her parents did not rectify this horror is beyond me. Some plastic surgery is a godsend, I think The rest is basically vanity.

This plastic surgery thing is a kind of time wave. 1930s, 40s in the US, it was the "nose job" which Barbara Streisand skipped. (Good on her!) Late 40s, 50s, 60s, it was Japan's turn. I remember the Jujuin Clinic ads. In the 60s and 70s, the Vietnamese term for fake was "Hong Kong", especially after Madam Ky got bigger in the chest. So, now it is Korea's turn. Oh, well. I'm expecting genetic modification next and my bet is that Japan will be first. Anime eyes, anyone? They would splice in raptor DNA for that one.

It's because they secretly love each other... they just can't stop talking about each other.
