Scientists race to beat mosquito resistance in fight against malaria

A laser mosquito defence system was invented many years ago. I take it this never went into production? What went wrong? Is there a story?

The cure exist but not cheap enough. Someone should develop high voltage drone to kill mosquitoes flying around the house.
