It doesn't really. Yes, it will make life shorter typically but it will have limited impact on the population overall.

On the other hand, it could mean that a tonsillitis infection will last for weeks not days and that simple surgical operations will become life threatening events.

I don't think you give mother nature enough credit, she is & I predict will unleash so REAL nasty bugs that will not only cause death but will have very severe implications for global economy. SARS was a tiny look at the future, more to come!

The over-prescription of antibiotics is causing this disaster-waiting-to-happen, IMO.

While I have often railed against the current population explosion, I have never asked for or wanted a massive epidemic. Losing a loved one is always a disaster, whether to disease or something else.
