Using the word ‘patient’ to describe a person with Down’s Syndrome or any other learning difficulty is awful. It isn’t an illness.

I know several local people with Downs Syndrome and treat them just like anyone else.
I noticed in the last few years many of them have become actors/actresses.
There is one in the British TV drama "Call the Midwife" there is Daniel Laurie who plays Reggie. Watched some others too.

They can be very creative people.

If they are receiving treatment (as the individuals referred in the article) then they are validly called patients. Or to be more clear, they are patients because they are included in a study and receive treatment, not because they have Down syndrome.
Mr Kipling
Iceland has virtually eradicated Down Syndrome by means of pre natal screening and women having control of their bodies.

Yay genocide?
Also, what the hell:
Is there some mistake here, or are they suggesting that injections every two hours for a span of six months is a viable treatment method? Sounds like torture!
Mr Kipling
Takalka....
No, just parents being given the choice to have a baby with Down Syndrome or not. Almost 100% chose not to have the baby. My wife and I would have made the same decision.
Mr Kipling
It is not just Iceland..
Rates of abortion after a positive prenatal test...
Iceland 100%
Denmark 98%
UK 90%
Japan 84%
France 77%
US 67%
When given the option, most parents decide not to have the Down Syndrome baby.

The hormone is given by pulses by a pump that has a deposit with many doses, the needle only needs to be inserted once and the pump is programmed to deliver a pulse every certain amount of time. Now it is a very common way to administer insulin to diabetic patients.
