My mother lived through the 1918 flu pandemic, and often told me about how horrible it was. In the apartment building where she lived with her parents, people would carry their dead family members down to the sidewalk, to be picked up by a horse-drawn cart. She said that their neighbors lost all three of their daughters. For reasons unknown, it passed her and her family by.

I'll take my chances and get one. Insurance pays for it and if you don't have insurance, there's tons of places to get one for free. Not really much of a sham.
