Students mental health has been deteriorating in countries affected by COVID the most, even in places without any hard lockdowns (like Japan) so it is not honest to pretend the lockdowns are responsible for the problem, or that they were not justified. If your elderly family members are dying one after another because of COVID then that is reason enough to become depressed clinically.

think that this article is fake news. I think that many young people are bouncing back more resilient than ever.

Not backed up by any data anywhere in the world that had lockdowns, but I'm sure your personal observation is accurate.

Or is it?

In the United States, the biggest teachers union led by Randi Weingarten worked hand-in-hand with the CDC to keep schools closed and students at home.

Its certainly very rich for these same teachers now to feign surprise and concern for the tsunami of mental illness they themselves created.

Hmmmm.. Not the pandemic but the actions taken to "deal eith the virus" that is a significant cause of this.

It is a shame a global pandemic was necessary for this delayed development, this has been needed for decades already.

True but better late than never. The pandemic has really shone a light on the importance of mental health and its helped shed some taboos around it. Hopefully this reform will start happening in schools across the globe.
