That seems like good news. The only problem is it seems very neat and tidy with a twist that's all folks and good night.

The study analyzed 413 new COVID cases in Beijing from Nov 14 to Dec 20, 2022 .,,

The findings are representative of the entire country.,,

If we ignore the above which seems that a huge flaw to the study, I wonder if the claim that the world should "calm down" about the possibility of new COVID-19 variants circulating in China, from leading Chinese scientist George Gao can be independently verified.

I really hope so as that would be the best news this month!!!

The report is useful and the risk of variants at this point is not tought to be high, even with the disaster happening in China; but it would have been much better for independent researchers being able to freely conduct the study to avoid the important criticism of the government of China only letting out the results they like being reported.

Also important is that the international medical community is much more worried about the huge numbers of unnecessary deaths in the Chinese population than the appearance of variants.

There was an article recently on Japantoday that stated that incoming travellers from China to Japan had shown no unusual mutations when taking a mandatory Covid test after entering the country. So, it would seem the Japanese government findings corroborates what Mr. Gao is saying.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Does that include calming down also about the first one? lol

6 ( +6 / -0 )

In fact we should be worrying even more and banning Chinese travel I think.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

With the disaster that most of the Western world brought upon itself by not following basic protocols, China is making the scientific observation that there is not much to worry now, as the damage has been done.

Pity many countries listened to the WHO and did not wear masks, which resulted in huge numbers of unnecessary deaths.

While many Asian countries such as Japan and China followed the scientific and medical advice to wear masks, and therefore prevented millions of deaths.

China, with its lowest infection and death rate in the world comes out on top in the end.

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

It pains me to be the joy killer, but I strongly believe that leading Chinese scientist George Gao has a lot more work to do before the world believes China, with its lowest infection and death rate in the world, comes out on top in the end.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Yes, calm down after China has paid indemnities to the entire world's COVID victims and their families.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

With the disaster that most of the Western world brought upon itself by not following basic protocols, China is making the scientific observation that there is not much to worry now, as the damage has been done.

that makes no sense, the damage done by the CCP to the Chinese population comes precisely because it disregarded the advice of the international experts and choose instead to sacrifice the lives of uncountable people that died a completely unnecessary death.

Pity many countries listened to the WHO and did not wear masks, which resulted in huge numbers of unnecessary deaths.

So you are choosing again to repeat the pointless spam and misrepresentation disregarding the warnings from the moderation? all international scientific organizations (including in Asian countries) recommended for masks to be prioritized for symptomatic patients which at the point was well fundamented in scientific evidence.

In Japan the medical advice was the same, to prioritize masks for patients, specially in hospitals, your baseless appeal to authority saying the contrary is still false.

China, with its lowest infection and death rate in the world comes out on top in the end.

Not at all since international experts clearly say the numbers reported from China are not truthful, hiding cases and deaths systematically do not make a country stand at the top of anything.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

COVID-19 started in China! Yeah, just like China claims that it was only a weather balloon flying across the US.

China like to downplay anything that shows direct wrongdoing on their part.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

While many Asian countries such as Japan and China followed the scientific and medical advice to wear masks, and therefore prevented millions of deaths.

China, with its lowest infection and death rate in the world comes out on top in the end.

Do you ever wonder why virtually all of your posts are so thoroughly ratioed? It’s because you excel at posting the most mindless of drivel.

Trusting China to be truthful about self reporting well….anything really…but specifically Covid deaths and infections, the very pinnacle of naive absurdity.

So…congrats for reaching the top?

that makes no sense,

Not everybody understands everything, and for some reason people deny facts. The choice is yours.

So you are choosing again to repeat the pointless spam and misrepresentation disregarding the warnings from the moderation? all international scientific organizations (including in Asian countries) recommended for masks to be prioritized for symptomatic patients which at the point was well fundamented in scientific evidence.

Wrong.

As seen below, the CDC gave conflicting advice with the WHO. There goes your pointless spam and misrepresentation:

WHO says there is no need for healthy people to wear face masks, days after the CDC told all Americans to cover their faces

https://www.businessinsider.com/who-no-need-for-healthy-people-to-wear-face-masks-2020-4

For symptomatic patients only.

Something that changed with data collected during the pandemic demonstrating that masks used by asymptomatic people in general were effective at reducing transmission. Which is why scientific institutions around the world still recommend them, not only for symptomatic patients.

No for healthy people and certainly not for children whose brains need to learn how to pick up social cues from facial expressions and whose growing bodies could suffer from restricted oxygen flow.

Yes, for healthy people and even children because imaginary dangers like "restricted oxygen flow" are not a reason to avoid using an effective measures. There is zero evidence that masks interrupt in any detectable way oxygen flow.

Painkillers do not help with covid.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Not everybody understands everything, and for some reason people deny facts. The choice is yours.

The reasons why this makes no sense are written there clearly, since you have been completely unable to refute them that means they are still valid and demonstrate your opinion as mistaken.

Wrong.

As seen below, the CDC gave conflicting advice with the WHO. There goes your pointless spam and misrepresentation:

Still trying to misrepresent the situation? the CDC clearly recommended the same thing as the WHO at the beginning of the pandemic, that masks were to be prioritized for symptomatic patients and not the general population, you have been repeatedly proved to mislead people in this way, the recommendations changed for all the scientific institutions during the pandemic, as soon as each institution collected enough information to change the recommendations in their sphere of influence.

Your misleading misrepresentation has been deleted repeatedly and you insist on copy pasting it again, that demonstrates your intention is to mislead other people, not to have a proper discussion with arguments.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

The lockdowns for three years killed millions of Chinese.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Trying to divert from the issue? Japan listened to their own medical experts.

No, that would be you still trying to misrepresente the position of the CDC as if they recommended mask for the general population from the beginning, something that is completely false.

Also, Japanese medical associations clearly recommended masks also to be prioritized for medical personnel in hospitals, the opposite of your baseless claim, specially because masks were very scarce at that point.

You trying to make false claims is a much more clear attempt to divert from the issue.

And again, it is clear you are wrong because it wasn't all international scientific organizations when the CDC gave different advice from the WHO as proven below.

Still false and wrong, the CDC at the beginning of the pandemic clearly recommended masks to be prioritized for hospitals and not to the general population, this completely demonstrates your argument is false, and that you know it is false.

https://kesq.com/news/2020/01/29/cdc-says-wearing-a-face-mask-wont-protect-you-from-the-coronavirus/

Why insist repeating something that is easy to demonstrate as false, and that is repeatedly deleted by the moderation when you choose to spam it? other than a transparent attempt to get your comments deleted again there is no point to it.

The same as making off topic nonsensical comments about oysters.

all international scientific organizations (including in Asian countries) recommended for masks to be prioritized for symptomatic patients which at the point was well fundamented in scientific evidence.

Wrong. As facts below prove your claim baseless and ungrounded in scientific reality:

Meanwhile, some health agencies have taken a stand that calls for mask-wearing in public from the early stages of the outbreak — Hong Kong on Jan. 24, mainland China on Jan. 31.

https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/04/10/829890635/why-there-so-many-different-guidelines-for-face-masks-for-the-public

Hmm. Were those countries following the science in early 2020 though? Looks like a clear yes:

Such research has been coming out at least since February; the latest report is from Singapore on April 1. These studies emphasize that people can spread the virus before realizing that they are sick — and that wearing a mask in public could help keep the infected person from spreading infectious droplets.

So, we can see The WHO was wrong--heck--even the WHO knew it was wrong since they soon changed their stance completely.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Wrong. As facts below prove your claim baseless and ungrounded in scientific reality:

None of the "facts" you present make the statement wrong, Japanese Medical associations recommended masks to be prioritized for hospitals and not for the general population, so did the WHO, CDC, EMA, etc. etc.

This was common in every country that had restricted number of masks, including the US with a link clearly demonstrating the CDC shared the same recommendation at this point, until the evidence changed.

What evidence do you have that demonstrate the news article that completely contradicts your personal claims is false? none? that still means you have been demonstrated again as just repeating misleading claims

So, we can see The WHO was wrong--heck--even the WHO knew it was wrong since they soon changed their stance completely.

No, that is still your false claim, for the WHO to be wrong you need to bring evidence masks were effective for respiratory diseases while used by asymptomatic people in the general population AND that the evidence was available before the pandemic, you previously claimed to have this evidence, only to retract this claim when you became unable to provide it, thus proving the WHO, CDC, EMA, Japanese medical associations, etc. were not wrong by doing recommendations based on the available scientific evidence.

repeating your claim without the necessary evidence is as much a nonsense as your off topic comment about oysters, clearly made only to taunt the moderators.

You should take a leaf from the WHO book

I'm not quite sure what RainKilLer's point is. the "WHO made mistakes tut tut" trite has been covered before.

All I can say is so what? They corrected their mistake. Good for them. The end.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

So we saw Korea, Hong Kong, China, all were using masks at the beginning of COvid in contrast to The Who's wrong advice.

Are you now retracting your claim that medical authorities in all those countries (and in Japan) contradicted the WHO? because now you are changing completely what you said before. Scientific organizations can only recommend things according to the scientific evidence.

You keep commenting without providing that supposed scientific evidence that would make the CDC, EMA, WHO, recommendations wrong and that you said was available before the pandemic, this means you now understand this claim of yours is also false.

Especially in Japan, masks were recommended from the beginning, and the government sent masks to everyone, all the while the WHO was giving contrasting advice:

No, they were not, as you clearly prove when offering a link from 4 months after the beginning of the pandemic instead of any recommendation from a medical organization that support your baseless claim.

In reality your link clearly disproves your claim, because the offering of two masks was done precisely because mask were terribly scarce even at that point, which makes the priority to hospitals completely justified. You again disproved your own claim.

Incredible the WHO missed the ball, since the effectiveness of masks was known for more than a decade:

The Cochrane review demonstrate the efficacy for mask for symptomatic patients in hospitals, as your link clearly says, which is exactly what all the medical and scientific institutions recommended at the beginning of the pandemic. Your own link proves the WHO recommendation was scientifically justified.

Expecting the global public health authority to change policy because of a single study of less than 100 patients in a single location should be obviously wrong even for you, which is why no international organization did that until much more solid evidence was obtained during the pandemic.

So you keep spamming the same baseless claim you made in many other topics, even when it is completely unrelated to the article you are commenting, and bring irrelevant evidence that do not support your point (not to count obvious nonsense like the oysters claim). Is that how you think discussions are done or are you openly trying to break the rules again?

Dear China the world knows anything made in China is of very poor quality n gets spoiled very fast but a very big but the Virus from Wuhan was the best product that China has made so far it stopped the world for 2year plus n now whenever there is a viral infection in China the world gets scared as China is the super power of Virus manufacturing
