Obviously. Those at risk of dying from Covid 19 need to stay away from kids especially. However, this does not mean that kids should be locked down. Those at risk of dying need to lock themselves down.

For a disease that is easily transmitted by people still one or two days from showing symptoms (if ever) it is realistically impossible to isolate only those at higher risk. Even with all the difficulties involved the only way to prevent transmission for them is to prevent as much transmission as possible in general.
Children may be an important vector of transmission, so that has to be carefully considered. Specially if the spreading is out of control and the health services are swamped, because then everybody that requires hospitalization, independently from age or preexisting conditions, becomes automatically part of the vulnerable population since it no longer is an option.

I agree with BigYen. Lots of unknown unknowns vs. human hubris and complacency. The best way to defeat this is with open minds.

And yet these same young ones are the ones not wearing masks. They go home and spread it there. Those parents are the ones with the heaviest load.

"Those at risk of dying need to lock themselves down."
No way - we need to 'protect' those at risk. BUT, current trends, all over the world indicate that the young and (presumed) healthy are the highest demographic getting Covid now. Why? They think like the above, that they are invincible and only vulnerable people can get it etc. We are all vulnerable to Covid. It's dangers escalate daily. It is indiscriminate. We all need to help eachother on this virus or it will win.

No, they are not at odds. The article only reports that children can carry high virus loads, it does NOT say they fall ill from it, as confirmed by the death statistics.
I continue to be a amazed by lack of intelligence of the article writers. They manage to contradict themselves within a few sentences.
