Some of my in-laws were interned during WWII. Some of the in-laws were re-patrioted to Japan, and then asked for (and got) help to come back to the States once the war was over. One of the in-laws served in the famous 442nd Regiment, the most highly decorated regiment in the history of the United States.

We had an employee at one of the companies where I worked who had been a kamikaze pilot. He landed his plane, got out, surrendered, and asked for political asylum.

Truth is stranger than fiction.
