Tolkien and Rowling have added two new universes to my imaginary life. Great, rich, amusing, scary, and yes, JGal, a bit of a steep learning curve. For those who enjoy those sorts of things.

@ppokkiya As much as I hate to say it, but JK didn't really write a good love story either. I mean, Harry has no interest in Ginny until she gets another boyfriend and all of a sudden he's violently jealous, and then they don't see each other for a year and then they get married.

Ron and Hermione were a little better, because at least their relationship built up over the course of the story.

Still, hopefully she isn't writing a romance and it'll be something that I can get behind.

JapanGal, do not understand, the books are easy to read a bit cutesy but what do you expect? She has sold a lot of books and made a lot of money. If people enjoy reading them, who are people to say they are wrong?

Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling has written a novel for adults...

This made me chuckle recalling all of the adults who insisted the Harry Potter series were for adults...

Whatever it happens to be about, I'm sure that it will have a better love story than Twilight.

Her cashcow franchise is drying up

I hardly think She is hard up for money and needs to write being one of the richest people in Britain. It looks like she is doing it because she enjoys it. I'm rather interested in the story behind her switching publishers though. Seems more than needing a "logical progression" as she put it.

This her way of saying Ok all you "adults" who went harry potter crazy...... that was not a book for adults

@RowanM - I will not disagree with you on that! :)

I don't believe many adults were saying that the story was for adults but rather it was okay for adults to read them as well since a good story is a good story.

The big difference is that since they are aimed at children, they are incredible easy to read and understand unlike more hardcore fantasy and fiction books. If you find them difficult to read I would suggest that fantasy and science fiction are probably not your cup of tea.

I agree. Why did she really switch publishers?

who's she gonna 'lift influences from' for this book ?? lol

Hmm...

'kids' who grew up reading her books are pretty much adults by now.

So, maybe it's Hogearts w/ sex?? Just a thought.

Perhaps she will write an effective romance as the new book is for adults. Still, point taken, RowanM.

I suppose but for the past two decades its mainly centered on harry pothead, in between the books she could of done some side novels also

The Harry Potter books are terrible. Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy was infinitely superior in all areas, from the writing to characterisation to the believability in the universe he creates. Such good books

Reading her books is like trying to get through the hobbit. Never could understand the popularity.
