Disgraced former-NTV announcer to hold lavish wedding reception

A 28-year-old NTV announcer was arrested for secretly filming up a woman's skirt two years ago. After prosecutors finally decided not to prosecute him, he was assigned to another department within NTV and has been working as an ordinary employee since then.

"He is going to get married", one NTV insider says. "His fiancée is a beautiful woman who works for another TV station on the same NTV network. Many of her colleagues worry if she knows his past. But they had been in a relationship before the case. She has been devoted to helping him through his depression as a result of massive criticism."

What is concerning NTV is that the two are going to hold a lavish wedding reception at a place which is often used as a location for for TV dramas and films.

"He caused a lot of trouble for NTV and destroyed the company's reputation. How come he can hold such a gorgeous party?” wonders another NTV insider.

The man in question seems to be struggling about what he should do for his fiancée. "He of course thinks he should do something outstanding. He has made a brave decision to make his fiancée’s dream come true because she has been devoted to him in spite of his arrest," says one of his colleagues.

Apparently, he has been working hard at NTV and his bosses and colleagues highly value him now for his attitude. The majority of NTV employees support his decision to hold a lavish wedding party, says an NTV insider. (Translated by Taro Fujimoto)

Reputation my foot.

They go about their business as usual, everyone perfectly aware that this one incident will have about as much effect on their reputation as a gnat hitting your windshield will have on your driving.

if the man has been punished and has truly acknowledged his wrongdoing and learned to become a better man, I think he deserves to be happy. Because his fiance stood for him in his deepest time of need he wanted to show his appreciation by having the grandest wedding he can ever afford I think this should never be an issue.

Thanks for the nice non-news.

I couldn't find his name in the article.

Any other formerly arrested people having weddings this month?

You are right on the money.

Don't kick a guy when he's down.

Cut the guy some slack.

He should now be able to control those impulses.

Let me get something straight? Was the guy charged with any offence? Did the case go to court? Was he convicted of an offence?

If not what the heck business is it of anyone elses? Sounds like the guy has already had enough trouble in his life from this allegation without anyone trying to ruin his wedding and marraige over one alleged stupid act. "Innocent until proved guilty" is a fundamental principle of law I believe, even the perverted variety that sometimes passes for justice in Japan.

This story is totally useless without said upskirt pictures. I am imagining one of his drunk buddies at the wedding snapping a few similar ones of the bridesmaids given the groom's obvious penchant for the genre and the fact everyone will be thinking it anyway.

Nope. Never has been, hopefully never will be.

The American legal system is required to presume innocence until guilt is proven. There is a world of difference there.

As a result, if the prosecutors fail to prove guilt, they do not declare the suspect innocent, but rather "not guilty". That distinction is a bit more subtle.

Theres nothing like love that's been tested by hardship.

one mistake, and many people want to ban him. As for filming the bride how would that punish him. If people think like you. Maybe we should throw the Marine an that threw the dog over the cliff in Iraq along with his entire family. One more comment. what you think rjd and sk

you I am sorry he is a U.S. Marine. We can't punish him like that. We can only kick him out because he is white like an American and the Brits. We don't believe in punishment. Also that is the reason we let rapist and murderer out of jails. To think I used be proud of being from an Country that that uses English. Now I just keep an low key so that I don't draw attention to myself.

This is such a NON story. How much more boring does it get?

"As a result, if the prosecutors fail to prove guilt, they do not declare the suspect innocent, but rather "not guilty".

I am aware of the distinction you make but my understanding is that in this case no charge has ever been made and so the guy concerned cannot be found "not guilty" because there never was any formal attempt to establish his guilt in the first place.

statistician: this non-news was put on the site so we have a perfect right to flame this guy

Wow, news must be thin on the ground today. And what kind of reporter opens a story with details of an event that happened two years ago? Truly embarrassing work.

Shouldn't this be in the Entertainment section with all the other Who Cares drivel?

I don't get why guys are into filming upskirt. I mean unless you know the monthly cycle then....anyway, of course he is tainted forever like any pervert would be. I am sure his mates found it funny though like good mates should.

Gossip... the guy wasn't charged for a reason, most likely they didn't have enough evidence, so leave the dude alone.

Typical of corrupt organizations rallying to support one of their own. The guy is a perverts. NTV is supporting a pervert.

He didn't even get charged with anything...what a non-story.

And I've never heard of NTV anyway.

It's none of NTV's business, that's how come...

Unless any of you know the details of why he wasn't prosecuted I would say that the guy did do an illegal thing. He got arrested for it. If there wasn't enough evidence, so what? It doesn't mean he did not do it. What a pervert. My grandmother once said, girls ruin boys. I tend to agree with her in some situations, this is a good one. I don't think he is going to stop his peeping. He will just be more careful next time. A for the wedding, well, obviously he is not ashamed of what he did.

You don't need to worry about the bridesmaids - I read that the bride is going to wear a beautifully lavish meringue-style white gown, western style of course, with a magnificent lacy bra, sparkly white shoes, white fishnet stockings with a lacy suspender belt, and nothing else. But she's banning all the female guests from wearing skirts (not sure if the men can wear them ...) and she's chosen bridesmaids outfits that involve stylish, well-fitting pink trousers - with a well-starched crease - and maternity-style smocks smothered in frills and printed with elegant images of fuji-san. Typical J-style in fact, except for the pics of Fuji.

No risks to be taken, she said, but in a casual aside she mentioned that her husband-to-be's shoe camera would be welcome to point up HER frilly dress....
