At last, there is a man whom singer Seiko Matsuda finds suitable for her daughter. Sayaka Kanda, 22, daughter of Matsuda, 47, has started a new relationship with stage actor Ikusaburo Yamazaki, 23.
The two met through the musical “Les Miserables,” which has been running since March this year. According to a source related to the show, the two were often seen holding hands in public and went out on dinner dates. Kanda apparently invited Yamazaki to a Mother’s Day celebration with Matsuda and her grandmother, and it seems the celebrity mom was satisfied with the young man, describing him as "well behaved."
There had been previous occasions when Matsuda made it clear she was not pleased with her daughter’s choice of boyfriends. Kanda took a break from all entertainment activities rather abruptly in 2005 and left home, which had to do with her relationship with guitarist Masato Kitano, 12 years her senior. Even in 2004 Matsuda did not approve when her daughter was dating actor Yuma Ishigaki (who was arrested last year for assaulting a restaurant employee). In comparison, Yamazaki is mild-mannered and Matsuda has given her blessings to the couple.
Both Kanda and Ishigaki have their own blogs, and their mutual affection is reflected in the content. On the same day Ishigaki wrote about his grandfather’s death in his blog, Kanda in turn composed a poem that clearly showed her concern and sympathy.
The agency representing both mother and daughter requested that the media watch over the young couple "with warmth." Another source in the entertainment industry commented, “Both individuals are quite conservative. Marriage is not unthinkable, and possibly sooner than anticipated.”
Perhaps there will be a grandchild for the eternal pop icon Matsuda too?
