Helping the pets is helping ppl.
Ppl who have pets really love them. Suddenly being separated from them and ata a shelter in a disaster, and not knowing if the pets have food, water, is an immense stress. Saw a woman on TV going home and finding her pet had starved to death.

I give money to homeless people as well as dogs. Everybody needs help ! !

you never have to choose between helping one or the other. there are enough people who care to do both. helping animals shows a society to be civilized and that they've moved beyond living in dirt huts and hunting and gathering.

There are some people that appreciate pets & obviously these chaps showed that they did.
Still agree that all the dogs have to have a darn good bath with hope that is all they will need bar food & love from pror owners.

These people are trained in the care of dogs so it's natural that their contribution to the disaster recovery works along those lines. I'll leave the helping of humans to those who are trained in those fields. An amateur tromping around trying to help is usually more hinderance than help. Someone who IS trained usually has to be assigned to "watch" the amateurs - taking them away from doing REAL good. Plus, the amateurs need to be fed and given shelter, taking away just that little bit more from the victims.

Sad when people think it has to be one or the other.
It's good to learn that some of the dogs have been rescued. I hope the ones who are left are rescued sooner rather than later. If that makes me a different breed, that's fine. Bite me.

just help both, you dont have to choose!

Dogs and dog lovers are a different breed, me I think I need to stick to helping out other humans first.

Do you guys happen to remember what they did to all the pets and livestock left behind in Chernobyl the next day after people evacuation?

Wow, this just reminded me of the story of Hachiko. Such faithful dogs.
Given that they've been out there for weeks exposed to the radiation I hope that they are alright.
