How come property prices in all these island countries are still sky high.

Answer. The sea level isn't changing.

The sea level around Japan hasn't changed noticeably either in the last 50 years. And for those of you who failed basic physics, the sea cannot only rise in one area. It has to rise uniformly across the globe.

So don't worry.

May well be a good idea, for areas of japan prone to Tsunamis, at least the houses could "float", instead of being "swallowed: like they were in the last "big one"
