Do u really have to buy second hand items? Think Twice! Save Thrice! (Time, Money & Ideas)

The 2nd hand business in Japan is a business only for the middlemen companies.

the sellers get a pity for their properties and the buyer is asked a far too high price by the reseller. The retail 2nd shops ask prices between 60 and 80 % and I have my doubts about much of the brand items being authentic and not fakes.

I agree also with the 3 other posters here. Japanese buy and keep buying stuff they never use and most of it goes into garbage when they die. And they save the best of their things for” special occasions “ which never happen.

People have to learn that breaking a glass, no matter how nice or expensive is part of a glasses live expectation. No need to cry about. Same for every thing or product. Use them, recycle them. But buy to use not to “ have” or “ keep “.

I visit second-hand or thrift shops just for fun. In Japan they clean, well-organize and promote re-selling goods, in a way that regular retailers usually do.

Most interesting is that your personal, monetary values do not necessarily reflect market ones. So I often get amazed to discover "steals" at those shops while at that same time I also get disappointed that my offering goods are very undervalued through their appraisal.
