I see. So when it's a non-Japanese fleeing Japan, it's because they're selfish, disloyal and scared for leaving Japan in the lurch. But when it's a Japanese leaving, it's for the safety of the children, to participate in a retirement scheme and to enjoy the comforts of life abroad.

I have visited Penang several times, its one of the places you go to, when you need a new visa for Thailand, if live there long-term.

It is a very pleasant place, and it really is a muslim country that is different. And most people understand and speak english there, unlike some others third-world-countries I know....

Given Fukushima, Abe, the Senkakus, Debito Aruto and a few others things, like the sooner or later upcoming conflict with China.... I guess, I will make some inquiries on the internet. They only used to give 14 day visas, which was the reason why Thailand became more popular for long term living, which in spite of its absurd corruption, was still the easier choice. But with this choice?

Yes, that's right. But that was more of the reaction from the 'bubble-reality' non-Japanese residents. You know, the foreigners who don't want to admit they will never be equals among Japanese locals. AKA - 'apologists.' They were the only ones using the ridiculous 'flyjin' moniker.

The Japanese locals didn't condemn non-Japanese too much for leaving during the disasters.

I spent many summer in Penang during my teenage yrs. in the 60's..................pure joy ( though i didn't fully appreciate it then )
