It's from the vaccines

@NeverSumit , you are right on the money, Also from the mother malnutrition, mercury, hormones, other unknown chemical on the food that mothers ingest, also the baby formula DHA /ARA supposedly for Brain and eye development,,"hint , hint" , also Soy milk, made with bio engineered soybeans "hint ,hint" , oh, and always popular , High Fructose corn syrup, as you know!

I always says There is nothing like Mother`s Milk!

I agree totally. I dont vaccinate my children, They were only breastfed, and we steer clear of highly processed foods. Thirmesol/mercury should not be used as a preservative in vaccines, especially those intended for very small infants. They also force far too many vaccines on a child at one time.

It is easy enough to refuse to vaccinate in Japan, but try it in some other countries where you are virtually accused of abuse if you refuse.

23% in two years is a massive leap. Assuming that part of it is down to better diagnostics, what accounts for the other part? Has there been a change in vaccinations in the past few years? If not, is it likely that vaccines that have been used for many years are suddenly having a detrimental effect?

If this leap in the number of cases is unique to America and not seen in other developed countries with similar vaccination programmes, we need to consider other factors - like additives in food, perhaps? Chemicals in the environment?

The disparity in the number of cases in different states would also seem to point to something environmental. What do Utah and New Jersey have that Alabama doesn't?

Autism includes a wide spectrum of developmental differences and may range from mild social awkwardness

... OMG!! Every single teenage I know is autistic!!!!!!

And this precisely the problem with the current diagnostic criteria, they're too broad.

Frankly this is a storm in a teacup. The criteria simply need to be tightened up to exclude cases where medication and intervention isn't required (simply applying the functionality test would be adequate) and you'll see this problem diminish to a reasonable size.

Is Aspergers included in these figures, I wonder?

also,,if they do not have Autism, they are Hyperactive (ADHD or ADD) , (a new Fad from doctors to give your kids more medicine and keep them drugged ) just let them run , climb , enjoy a sport instead of just keeping them on their room playing Video games, they just have a lot pent up Energy, because parents are too busy to enjoy or give them for their kids at USA!

Haha, they keep expanding what classifies as autism - that's why the cases are rising!

Better diagnostics, social awareness. Vaccines have absolutely nothing to do with autism. I can't believe people still cling to that fraud of a study.

It is absolutely pathetic if people still believe vaccines cause autism.

they are Hyperactive (ADHD or ADD) , (a new Fad from doctors to give your kids more medicine and keep them drugged )

It is not a new fad at all and just so you know ADD is a real brain development "disorder":

Why don't you actually do some research before you start making claims about things you know nothing about.

Not the vaccines - pseudoscience playing on the fears of parents, encouraging false correlation as diagnosis occurs around the same age children get vaccinations. If you don't vaccinate your children you are doing them a great disservice - your children are at risk and will put others at risk, they should not be in the public school system. Dozens of terrible diseases have been brought under control (typhoid, TB, yellow fever, polio, diphtheria, hepatitis, etc) or eradicated (smallpox) through vaccination programs. Know anyone with polio? You don't - ask your grandparents, they might remember. Read about how wide spread TB used to be. The list goes on.

There are countless reports from parents of their kids being interactive, making eye contact and smiling and so forth and right up until their vaccinations. After the shots, the kids stop interacting and stop making eye contact.

It's also well documented that Amish and other traditional communities have almost no autism among their children. And those communities are vaccine-free.

I agree totally. I dont vaccinate my children...

I don't know if I could blame it all on vaccines.

You can't blame any of it on vaccines. The bogus study that suggested this rubbish has been completely dis-proven. Not giving your child vaccines is irresponsible and diseases that previously all but vanished will come back and may permanently damage your child or their children. I have a friend who is deaf because his mother had Rubella during pregnancy.

wipeout

Totally agree.

Japan never had thimerosal in the MMR or any other vaccine. Norway, Sweden and Denmark don't use it either, and they all have comparative autism rates. You'll have to blame something else.

Thimerosal is ethyl mercury, eliminated from the body in stool in about 1 week. It is not methyl mercury, the kind that accumulates in the body. If you want to see what mercury does, look up Minamata Byou. Those people didn't get autism.....

Autism is occurring more often as more and more couples in their mid to late 40s have children....it's not parents in their 20s reporting this rise. Recently an IVF drug has been linked to an increase in autism rates.

If thimerosal caused it, my generation and my father's (born 1930) would have had a much higher rate....in my father's childhood it was used as ear washes, and we slathered it on every cut as Mecurichrome.

It's not unheard of in Japan either. In our small kindergarten there were 3 children who clearly had a spectrum disorder in our school. One boy had tics and would stand in the same spot doing nothing until you told him what to do in the morning (take off your jacket, put the bag in the basket, etc) But in Japan people would just say "Oh, he's just shy" or "It's because he was born in the year of the Monkey." Parents are in denial a lot of the time.
