Experiencing life with art

One of the things I love most about Mori Building is the obvious appreciation for art. From the ever-engaging and unique exhibits at the Mori Art Museum to the art displayed inside MORI LIVING residences and in public areas around the HILLS, there is always something beautiful to see. And recently, MORI LIVING took this appreciation for art a step further by hosting a truly special event that showed people what it's like to live with art in their homes.

The event was held in the View Lounge on the 25th floor of ARK Hills Sengokuyama Residence, where there is a great view. The art works exhibited there were provided courtesy of three galleries: Galerie Tamenaga, MIZOE ART GALLERY, and Kashima Arts. They ranged from modern art by such well known artists as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagallto, Pierre-Auguste Renoir to energetic art by Takehiko Sugawara, and traditional Japanese artifacts dating back as far as the 1700s.

The organizers of the event took special care to make the lounge look and feel like that you're enjoying your art at home. Some larger works took up nearly an entire wall, while items such as ceramics or wooden cabinets were displayed prominently on a staircase or low pedestal. Visitors to the event had the opportunity to be served Japanese tea by a master of tea ceremony, or to sample some very special coffee or champagne - which made them enjoy the display of art like they were relaxing at home.

Overall, it was a generous way in which to get closer to some amazing artworks than one ever could in a museum or gallery, and gallery staff were on hand to answer questions and offer detailed explanations. Not only did I learn a lot, but I felt inspired when I left. MORI LIVING said it hopes to do other similar events in the future, so I recommend keeping an eye out and joining if you can!
