Growing your own food is not efficient land use... the food might taste better to you because you grew it... but that type of farming does not scale up. Luckily Big Agriculture is already good at maximising yields.

Japan definitely needs to offer more vegan options. And selling plant-based milks at double or triple the price of dairy milk does no one any favors.

Anything the average citizen can do, even with large-scale adoption, pales in comparison to the impact made by government bodies and corporations. Unless those are forced to be more mindful, it really isn't going to matter.

Doesn't mean don't be mindful of the environment, but individuals can really only do so much. Not all of these companies are necessarily responding [directly] to consumer demand either.

Every person should examine his life and decide what he can do on a personal level to make the world a better place. That is true today, and was true a thousand years ago.

One of the things we can do is encourage our collective representatives, our governments, to take actions that are in the common good. To that end, our governments should know that we care whether the world is livable or not.

Among the many things that our governments can do is to eliminate the billions of dollars in subsidies given annually to companies in the fossil fuel sector.

Supply and demand…

Let’s just stop at “subsidies”.

I have a problem with the way these reports are telling us to be vegan socialists. I would prefer, and be more enthusiastic about, finding free market capitalism-oriented solutions to our problems. That is largely how we have got where we humans are today, and I have no doubt that we can continue to solve problems going forward as well. Human ingenuity and innovation FTW.
