While making a hobby out of adoring Japanese idols is a perfectly acceptable pastime, some idol enthusiasts may find themselves with a full-blown case of “idol addiction.” Luckily, there is a hotline for those wanting to find out how to enjoy their idol worship in moderation.
Open on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the “Idol Addicts Anonymous” line states clearly that “Idols should be enjoyed in moderation.” It asks these questions to see if you have a problem with idols:
Have you ever lied to go to an idol event?
Do you buy the same idol merchandise again and again?
Have you ever surprised an idol, then gotten scolded for it?
Have you had to borrow money to pay for your habit?
Have you gotten in a fight with someone important due to an idol?
The hotline encourages anyone who answered yes to just one of those questions to call and talk about how to have a better life-idol balance. Do you know anyone who should be calling “Idol Addicts Anonymous?”

Although I do not share the same hobbies as these idol otakus I must say that it kind of makes sense that there exist so many of them. I mean, just take a look at the lack of interaction between young men and women, the number of unmarried men and how even married couples aren't interested in each other just a few years after they begin living together. Those people just have a sexual need that is not being filled by real people.
Idol/shoujo anime otakus are not people to be blamed or hated for being addicted to their hobbies, they are just people who lack the chance or human skills to interact with real women who meet their expectations, and in my opinion, this is due mainly to the social rules and structure of Japanese schools/companies/etc.

Really... Idol addiction is a thing now, jeez I feel better about being addicted to drinking all of a sudden. I will never nor will I ever want to understand people who are so into idols. There is something there of course, just not anything I would care about.
