Ganbare Japan!
I also share the excitement about the Integrated Resorts opening. The 3 Integrated Resorts will bring many jobs, and growth for Japan. The Casino part of the Business will be much stricter than overseas casino, with lots of security and hi tech CCTV. So unlike foreign Casinos, crime will not be an issue.
I am looking forward to taking my family to the Integrated Resorts for shopping, restaurants, bug concerts and perhaps magic shows. Really exciting times ahead!

Starting paying before spending, not for me ever.
I love open casinos where you can just bet within a minute and free to go.
So for addicts who spend too much, you ask them to spend 6000 yen more to cure them from their bad habit...common sense from the past.

Why do I feel like the yakuza will want a piece of this action?

1) If Japan truly cared about addiction, they would implement the ¥6000 entrance fee and visit limit to all establishments (boat/bike/horse racing, pachinko, etc).
2) Japan will find a way to take casino games and make them more "japanese" - stupididly low max odd payouts, lack of certain games, etc.

It was your dad's money, so ultimately, he could do with it as he wished.
