Y rights Co Ltd specializes in providing assistance to those who are suffering due to divorce, adultery, and sexual harassment. Through their proxy handling service, they hope to make it easier for victims to get the consolation money they're entitled to.

According to their press release, Y Rights has data (presumably a survey) showing that 53% of those who were cheated on or were sexually harassed wished to claim consolation money but only 1% of them actually went through with it. This shows how difficult it is for victims to speak out in Japan. Victims not only face high legal costs but struggle every day to continue their work and protect their families, which makes it difficult for them to turn to a law firm. There's also the psychological barrier which makes it difficult to talk about their situation.
Ease of use
With Y Rights, you only need to enter the details of the damage online, from the comfort of your home, without talking to anyone, and an attorney will intervene to solve the problem and transfer the consolation money to your account in as little as one week. Y Rights understands that "it's not a problem that can be solved with money" but they hope "it will help the perpetrator understand the victim's suffering, even if only a little."
Three steps
Fill out the necessary information in the application form and send it through the website.
- Read the precautions, wire them a system usage fee of 5,260 yen, fill in the necessary documents and send it.
- Just wait for the funds to be deposited.

Only those with "inherent biases" will think this is anything but a sound concept.
So people who get cheated on and "sexually harassed" get "consolation money?" For what?
Not only is this system up for abuse, it's ludicrous a concept as well.

I never understood this adultery as a legally punishable crime in the Japanese system, even this article puts it in the same league as sexual harassment. Despite being widely practiced, and anecdotic evidence around me suggests that women are more "criminally" active (it would actually be interesting to see some stats on this). While it may be a moral crime, Japan is somewhere in the line of Middle East theocracies by making adultery legally liable

Actions for alienation of affection are ridiculous and have been put to rest in countries with developed justice systems. It takes two people to commit adultery or cheat on a significant other. This means it is asinine to allow the person that was cheated on to sue the person their significant other cheated with.
More evidence of Japan being stuck in the middle of the 20th century insofar as laws are concerned.

What a joke. Looks either like a scam for the up front fee, or an extortion racket. Just imagine how they plan to compel people to pay up within a week? Obviously not by politely asking them to.

Easy access to recourse for victims of sexual harassment is a good thing. But a for pay internet service to try to extort money from someone whom you think your partner is having an adulterous affair with is disturbing on many levels. Also for labeling the knowing or unknowing other partner of an adulterer a "perpetrator".

So the service isn't even operating? Why does JapanToday bother with pointless advertising for services that don't even exit?
Kind of crazy though that a person could think about suing someone that had an affair with her/his partner. Surely such person should be questioning why their partner felt the need to go elsewhere.

I learned my Japanese JAL CA was cheating on flights to Osaka with an Aussie, two months before our wedding she told me I got her pregnant, she had an abortion without my involvement or permission, I learned later she told people it was the Aussie guys. I was devastated and let the wedding date pass.
