Japanese women describe things they’d most like to do if they were guys for a day

What would you do if you could be a member of the opposite sex for a day? I for one would make it my first priority to get on those “women only” cars on Tokyo’s rail network and see how sweet it really is, as well as observe how all the female commuters act without men around. Next, I’d walk into any store frequented by hardcore otaku and freak the guys out just by being there, then I’d spend the evening hitting the bars I usually frequent and see how many free drinks I can score.

Posed with the same question, a group of 300 women in Japan aged 21-33 shared their thoughts on the matter, their answers ranging from the usual “pee standing up” to some surprisingly saucy suggestions.

The My Navi Woman survey asked a sample of its readers what they’d like to do if they were a man for 24 hours. Let’s take a look at what they said.

  • “I’d go in on the male side of the public baths.”

  • “Try shaving my beard.”

  • “I’d stand in front of a mirror totally naked and just look at myself.”

  • “Pee standing up.”

  • “I’d go to the swimming pool! If think if I were a guy, I wouldn’t feel even a bit embarrassed about not wearing a shirt.”

  • “Take part in an eating contest.”

  • “I’d want to try having sex as a man.”

  • “Sprint at fast as I could.”

  • “Wear a pair of boxers. I’ve always wondered what they felt like to wear.”

  • “Change a lightbulb.”

  • “Carry something heavy.”

  • “Go on a date with a girl.”

  • “Hit on girls. I’d have way more confidence.”

  • “Put on a necktie and go to work at a company.”

  • “Enjoy wearing guys’ clothes.”

And finally, this response from a woman who clearly needs to talk to her man more:

  • “Become pals with my boyfriend, then find out what he really thinks about me.”

Some interesting answers here – I think we can agree that if we flipped the genders around we’d see some very similar answers from the guys, too. Well, apart from the ones that would be completely unpublishable, of course.

It’s an age-old question, but if you could be a member of the opposite sex for a day, what would you most like to do?

Pee outside

why can't a woman wear boxer, change a light bulb or put on a neck-tie, have a eating contest and even pee standing up? All of those are possible for women to do without becoming a man albeit the pee standing up may not be as tidy as for women as it is for men.

@notasap I am assuming these answers are from "girls" who put their hand to their mouths and "fufufu" think it is cute to be helpless. It is wonderful to wear boxers especially in the hot summer.

“I’d stand in front of a mirror totally naked and just look at myself.”

Pfft, I do that anyway. With air guitar.

I would like to find out EXACTLY what it is that makes men spend so much time with their hands down their trousers.

If I could change my gender for a day, I'd like to hang out with girls just for the sake of hanging out with them.

Oh wait... I already do that. Here's to all the ladies who are fun to hang out with.

IF possible by magic I'd like to have a period in the morning, and then go through childbirth in the afternoon, so that I could understand my wife more and be a better husband. And if you think I was serious, there's a great bridge in San Francisco I can sell you cheap. nah, probably hang out in an onsen. Funny that one woman said she'd go to the male change room at that public baths because I don't think the ladies who work in the sentos think their job is that thrilling.

Of all the possible things one could think of, "change a lightbulb"?????

13 ( +14 / -1 )

I'd sit around all day drinking and watching telly and hoping no one asked me to help with the washing, cooking, cleaning, shopping. If it was winter, I might go outside and write my name in the snow, otherwise I'd go round the house leaving all the loo seats up. One day would be more than enough I think, and I'd probably spend the last 12 hours of so looking at the clock and waiting to be a woman again.

(Only joking, lads - you know we luvs ya!)

cleo, that is classic !

Way to go, sillygirl! And who wears boxers? Or any underwear, for that matter? Putting our hands in the trousers of our pants just means we're bored, or our fingers are cold. Same as girls, or am I missing something? Cleo, you smart-a**!

cleo, that is classic !

I'll second that. Won't ask about how the name was written in the snow though.

I guess I don't need to "change into a man" for a day... I have been working like one for decades, I have often changed light bulbs, sawed down dead trees, I am very handy with saws, hammers, screwdrivers, etc... we always had to wear ties in school and I still prefer trousers to skirts (especially in this freezing weather !) Maybe I should try to be a "lady" one day ? (My mother always used to tell me to try to be more "ladylike"...)

Uz ladz dun like been asked awkward quesyuns. :-)

Okay, Cleo - that was good. But what would you REALLY do?

Tole ya, uz ladz dun like been asked awkward quesyuns. :-)

Please... we all know full well that if you could change genders for a day -- or hop inside the mind of someone of the opposite sex or something -- most people would spend a lot of the day playing with themselves (or with others of the opposite sex at the time). Sorry, but it's true. So, while I think comments like 'stand in front of the mirror all day naked' or 'pee standing up' are the sincere opinions of posters, I think there's a whole lot more that was not said.

@ kimuzukashiiiii I would like to find out EXACTLY what it is that makes men spend so much time with their hands down their trousers.

Oh you would you really want to know? Well most guys are playing "Pocket Pool" just imagining Lol

I asked my wife. She said she'd walk around the streets to see what the views like being taller. ........ So I said what about if you were a short man to which she answered she'd probably just stay home and watch TV.

sigh

If I became a girl for a day I'd be playing with myself all day, to tell you the truth. Also, might see what all the fuss is about going shopping as a girl because as a guy it's incredibly boring going shopping with your girlfriend or sister..

Then would send naked pictures of myself to my male body's mobile phone so I can have some more fun back in my own body. ;)

We have to assume we'd be worth looking at.

@Reformedbasher. What if we got the equivalent of our current bodies.

e.g. Fat man becomes fat woman. Supermodel becomes Adonis.

If I could change into a women for a day, besides the aforementioned "unpublishables," I would like to see what it's like to argue with a man, with the logic (if it can be called that) of a women. It might be an opportunity to really understand how the opposite sex sees things. I can't count how many times I've gotten into fights with girlfriends over what I think is nothing, and they are "fine" with. So long as I can go back to being a dude after a day, I'd give it a shot.

@Peacetrain

Even if we were nice to look at, I guess our facial expressions would need to fit the mood too.

sillygirl: Pee outside

Why can't you do that now? I've peed outside plenty of times.

There are some rather odd answers in that article. Why in the world would you assume guys can and you can't lift something heavy, change a lightbulb, run as fast as you can or take part in an eating contest? You'd think that some of the women answering didn't have a muscle between them or were raised in some sort of completely sex segregated society. They don't even seem to be aware of what they can do, let alone what not all men are capable of.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

besides "I’d want to try having sex as a man." a woman could do every single one of those now if they wanted too...

0 ( +1 / -1 )

'I want to try having sex as a man'. From what some of my coworkers tell me and what I've read on here, some Japanese women should try having sex as a woman.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@ambrosia yes, so have but it sure is more of an **ordeal as a woman.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Ha! All I can think of doing are x-rated, can't say it here...

Ahem. You'd think?? ;)

Clearly the winner is have sex with the opposite sex just to see what it is like.

I'd also tell a bunch of the sexist old pigs they're sexist in hopes that hearing it from a man might make them think about how they treat and think of women.

a woman as a man for just a day???...a normal person would feel embarrassed, unless u forget u were a woman before. the first few hours would be wasted shying away becos of that strange p**** dangling ur jeans. stand and pee? need practice in ur house first. but if i master that soon, i would love to go out on a date and treat a lady the way i want a man to treat me. no sex but. swoon her away and make her look all over the town for me while i go back to my womanhood. lol... sounds pretty good for a novel ;D

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I am surprised peeing standing up was down at #5 and not up at #1...

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I would venture out into the world, and just wander around. I love to simply walk about and people watch. Sometimes I will head to a park, sit on a bench with my book, and pretend to read. Instead of absorbing myself in the book, I observe the world around men. It's much easier to watch people when they think that you aren't watching them. It's nothing creepy. I just feel I can better understand the world around me by watching and observing the people who surround me every day. I want to see the sort of reactions I get in this alien body. How do people perceive me? Am I noticed, or am I just a face in the crowd? I would carry about my normal activities as someone else. The ultimate disguise. How does the lady in the grocery store react to this man before her? How different is it from the way she reacts to the real me? I am fascinated by human behavior and social interactions. I know how I see things when I am a women, and I see how I am looked at. How would life be different being on the other side of the gender gap? These things intrigue me. I thirst for knowledge, I hunger for it. What a better way to understand men, than to be one, just one day.

sillygirl: @ambrosia yes, so have but it sure is more of an **ordeal as a woman.

It certainly isn't as easy as a guy just being able to whip out Mr. Johnson but nor would I call it "an ordeal". Maybe if you're all wrapped up in petticoats and pantaloons but in all my vast experience of peeing outside, I'd say it's just a matter of balance and aim.
