Ties are a waste of money and harbour bacteria as they are never cleaned…

That can be a problem.
Thankfully, I don’t need to wear these silly things on a daily basis. My brother does and he buys the washable ones. Obviously not Gucci stuff made from silk but they do the job. I don’t know exactly what job ties do though.

I like ties with the right suit. Dry clean them. Or iron with steam.

They have many uses. As a sling if you break your arm; as a tourniquet if you get bitten by a snake; for tying up the car exhaust if it comes loose; for tying together the legs of the guy who sits next to you at school. Best to have one available, but also best to keep it in your pocket.

I don't collect much stuff. Books, of course. And rocks. And bric-a-brac I find here and there. And neckties. I still have my first, which I wore in high school.

You can get a Gucci tie for around JPY20,000. Why wear a non-silk tie?
Who has such a low-self image of themselves to dress like that?

Ties are great and can really complement a suit or shirt; and depending on how you wear and tie them, can be worn for both formal and smart casual wear.
There are washable ties and ties made up of various materials, not just silk, that can go in the wash on gentle/delicate setting.

I like ties, always been a fashion guy since I was 15, been through various fashion trends, but one thing I always had were a lot of ties, I own 25 silk and cleaning is not a problem, I just take them to the cleaners, not a problem at all.

How often do your ties get cleaned ?
Once a week?
I doubt it

Great stuff. Can’t argue with that.
You got me thinking there. Japanese salarymen used to tie them around their heads when they were bladdered. I’m sure that wouldn’t be acceptable in Iran.
