Beautiful

This is always breathtaking, I can only imagine the amount of work necessary to produce such detailed images on such a big scale.

Always a wonder, just like some artists making a painting on a single grain of rice.

Agriculture and horticulture can mix with artwork and this is one wonderful example of it. Thruout several Canadian cities I've seen 'billboards' / ads and insignia and symbols made up entirely of flowers or bushes. In Windsor at the border I've seen a Canada map (each province a different color flower), at Niagara Falls, CN there is a famous floral clock where the clock face is made of various colored flowers. At an art museum in Quebec City there's a red flower fleur-de-lis display in a bed of white flowers, and so on.

This takes great planning and effort and best of all, viewing it is usually free for all to enjoy.

Still, wish more of the Olympic focus, *as promised, *was on Tohoku region, … and not so much on the ‘riches of Kanto’.

*- “GYODA, Saitama From the ground, there's not much to distinguish the rice stalks in a field in Gyoda. It's only seen from above that a massive artwork marking the Olympics emerges. The images are part of a yearly tradition started by the town of Gyoda in Saitama Prefecture in 2008 in a bid to bring in tourists.” -*

Sadly, that didn’t happen for Gyoda, either.

Anyone have the Google Earth or GPS coordinates? What’s the location? The kids wanna see it, “for real”.

(Sounds useless to drive there? - “From the ground, there's not much to distinguish the rice stalks in a field in Gyoda. It's only seen from above that a massive artwork marking the Olympics emerges.” -
