Weekly Playboy, or Shupure in Japanese, is a weekly magazine that’s been around since late 1966. Though not officially classified as a regional edition of American Playboy magazine, the adult magazine features a number of nude pictorials of female models, with news, columns, comics, celebrity interviews and special interest articles thrown in as well.

To celebrate their 50th year in the business, Weekly Playboy is giving customers the chance to drink and dine with some of their most popular gravure models at a new bar called the Shupure Bar. Located in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district, the bar is decked out in a predominantly red-and-black theme, with dimly lit interiors and walls decorated in images from the weekly publication.

On the menu are special dishes like tuna sashimi, which can be eaten raw or slightly cooked in a hot broth for 1,690 yen and a simmered meat and vegetable side dish for 550 yen.

Karaage fried chicken, a favourite bar food staple, also appears on the menu, with a selection of sauces co-developed by different gravure models. From salsa to curry, there are eight different recommendations to choose from.

As for drinks, Suntory’s Strong Zero brand of canned drinks will feature at the bar. With a 9% alcohol content, these “chuhai” carbonated drinks are said to be a perfect match for dishes like karaage and dumplings, which are also on the menu.

While the food and drinks look tempting, customers here will probably be more interested in the waitstaff serving them, and to help get an idea of what to expect at the bar, popular gravure idols Hikaru Aoyama, Yuka Kuramochi and Nanoka came out to say hello at the promo event.

These girls will be making an appearance at the bar as part of “Gravure Night”, which is one of a number of special events on the schedule, which also includes talks by columnists and manga artists.

To rub shoulders with the magazine’s most popular gravure idols, customers will have to make a reservation and pay a “VIP Charge” of 10,000 yen, which gets you one of only five seats at the bar area where the models will be working. This price includes a set course meal of four dishes and comes with a time limit of one hour, with drinks charged separately.

The Shupure Bar will only be open for a one-year period, starting from June 10. Located in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district, the bar will fit right in with all the other unusual entertainment options on offer in the area.

If they really want to make it feel like a truly Japanese experience, the staff should wear mosaic printed bottoms.

Or instead of mosaic, a dark Frilled Mini Petticoat under miniskirt, lol

Why pay so much for the chance to talk to very average-looking women, when you could take that same money and have a real experience with one who offers "physical therapy"?

Or maybe because men happily pay for it.

Two sides of the same coin. Either way, women gladly take money in exchange for flaunting their bodies, and who wouldn't since it's the easiest possible way to make good money?

Such negativity here... this looks fun. Some women genuinely enjoy the attention, are a perfect fit for this kind of thing as long as it's safe, and shouldn't be shamed for it. Any kind of angelic squeaky-clean image Japan tries to portray ahead of the Olympics would be a facade. Who would even believe it?

Grubby. Is this the image Japan PLC want the world to see during the Olympics?

Sex sells, and women are down with it since they take such jobs.

Women once more paraded as commodities and objects. How very 21st century.

It's just a bit of fun mate. Everyone and everything in these kind of places is pretend, its all just a performance. Take it for what it is and enjoy.

Paying money for drooling and wishful thinking is not fun for me.  There are places in Ikebukuro, Shinjuku and Ueno where you can get way more fun than this crap.

Karage and canned chuhi?

who writes this crap... and why the girls are not nude, isnt it playboy?

Why would we support this kind of place?

here's another place where you can drool but not touch and you pay for that stress. Hot girls seducing youu but the truth is they are really so disgusted by you. And then the annoying managers in suits watching every customers who are attempting to exchange contact numbers with their girls.... Why would we support this kind of place?
