Many big companies consider hanami (viewing cherry blossoms) an act of obligation and dispatch junior employees hours ahead of time to lay claim to the best sites.

If you insist on the best place to view sakura in real natural beauty, how come the article didn't mention Yoshino in Nara Prefecture, which is reachable by a Kintetsu train from Osaka? I believe Yoshino has several thousand sakura trees, which bloom at different times during the hanami season depending on the altitude.

no mention of osaka castle either? or the Osaka mint office. They are both awesome in kansai.

Koganei Park and Kinuta Park are excellent.

Okazaki Park is an excellent choice for "hanami". I still prefer the Sakurabuchi Park in the small city of Shizuoka in Aichi prefecture.

Years ago, had a great time with my girlfriend at the Kitakami Cherry Blossom Festival in Iwate. Then we drove to the Osawa Onsen Konsei Matsuri in Hanamaki. (Know what I mean? Know what I mean? Nudge, nudge. Know what I mean? Say no more!)
