School’s out, and the kids are bored but that’s not necessarily a bad thing

In the US, maybe so, but kids in Japan are still in school.

Very good point. I grew up in a neighborhood with lots of kids, and we'd gather on someone's lawn and toss out ideas until a consensus was reached on how to relieve our boredom. This taught creativity and cooperation.

This lasted until I was old enough to cycle to the beach. Then I was never bored.

My grandmother and mother to me, and me to my kids: "Only stupid people get bored."

Well, school's until the last week or two of July.
