Tokyo cheerleader cafe adds male cheerleader service

Japan has a soft spot for themed restaurants, and one of the more unique is Cheers One, a cafe with a stylish but relaxed interior design, and where the wait staff are cheerleaders.

To be clear, it’s not just that they wear cheerleader outfits. The staff, on request, will perform cheer and dance routines, lifting customers’ spirits and filling them with energy and confidence ahead of an important presentation, project deadline, or whatever their personal version of “the big game” happens to be.

The Cheers One chain got started in 2019, but at the end of April the Tokyo Ginza branch added a new aspect to their service with the addition of their first male cheerleader.

Takahiro-kun (photo at top), Cheers One’s first “cheer boy,” is an experienced stage musical dancer, and the cafe says that all of its male cheerleaders will have a background in professional dance, having worked with theme parks, theater productions, or live concerts.

As with its female cheerleaders, Cheers One’s male cheerleaders will be serving and performing at the Ginza cafe, but can also be booked for 45-minute online cheer sessions via Zoom, for those who could use some pep provision but are unable to make the trip to Tokyo or are worried about in-restaurant dining in the current health climate.

It's a hostess bar, gateway to escorts

What does this mean? LGBTQ people will become cheerleaders? I've got news for you: many already are.

A simple world turned upside down crazy planet.

Because a man is cheerleading? Are you concerned that you're over-reacting, at all?

Makes sense, considering host clubs are significantly more profitable than hostess clubs.

We think it is a cute idea. Good luck Taka-san

"Male" cheerleader???

Isn't that gender discrimination, like everything else these days?

Sora News24 needs to get with the times!

How often do you go to Cheers One? This article makes it sound kind of neat. What food and drink do you recommend?

If avoiding such a cafe would help, OK, if it is at another cafe for people who want to see that, also OK, but now I have even to hear and read about it and also a photo is attached. That’s clearly too much to stand. lol

Why did you have to read about it? Who compelled you to click this link? Do you require police assistance?

We all need to be Cheered-Up these days. Embrace the concept and have fun. I am for Granny and Grandpa Cheery Cafe's too. They have great sense of humor and it might cheer them up as well. Stop being negative! This is a pandemic and not the time to be negative about cheeriness. Try positive & Cheer Everyone Cheer !!!

I am expecting downvotes, but I really cannot see any positive or happy things in this restaurant.

Loneliness must be really high and empathy (also inside the family and between relatives) must be very rare here since so many adults (both male and female) in this country need to pay to hear “gambatte” (do your best) or “otukaresama” (thank you for your hard work today) from a hostess/host/cheerleader to be happy or to feel encouraged and recharged.

I have friends, I talk with with family, when I need to be encouraged.

But yes, it is very common to meet depressed people in Japan. Just take a look at the commuter trains. It is not a surprise this type of café/club is in business. It is a sort of cheaper, sober and "light" kyabakura.

By the way, considering the cheerleader mini skirt, and the high number of perverts here, this café could be a “magnet” for perverts. Indeed, I rapidly looked at the page of the café and on the “recruitment” page is stated “女性用衣装のスカートの内側にはアンダー生地もついているので安心です” (There is under fabric inside the skirt of the women's costume, so do not worry).

You are totally right.

This kind of business emerges from a lack of social links in this society. And this lack brings of lot of suicides.

Here we have a band aid while we would need an action at the root of the problem ...

Will the boys put on mini skirts too?

Do cheerleaders have that much energy to go 45 min straight? That's a hell of a cardio program they go there. No one is booking Takahiro-kun for anything Zoom, cmon now.

Why?

Sort of a Japanese take on Hooters if you think about it, a sports themed restaurant where the servers are pretty young ladies dressed to pique the imagination.

Does the thought excite you?

Or maybe back right side up? Drag queen shows are older than I am. Look up a place in LA called The Queen Mary Show Lounge. The place was opened in the 1950s as a little restaurant originally called The Mick. Very soon after it opened the owner started to feature drag shows to attract customers. The name changed and the show evolved into a marathon four and a half continuous hours of drag, male strippers, lip-syncing, feathers and rhinestones. When I was a school bus driver during college I remember groups of drivers would go there for lunch.
