There’s a company in Tokyo called Girls Chintai. Chintai means “rental” in Japanese, so you might think that Girls Chintai is an escort service, but chintai here is referring to apartments, and Girls Chintai is a real estate agency.
So why “Girls?” Because Girls Chintai’s staff is made up of fashionable young ladies, who accompany clients on their visits to apartments they’re thinking about renting while creating a “date-like atmosphere.”
▼ Riri Sakino, one of Girls Chintai’s agents
The company’s website asks:
Have you ever had these kinds of problems?
● “I wish the person showing me apartments were a beautiful woman.”
● “On my day off, I want to look for an apartment, but I also want to go on a date.”
● “I don’t know what sort of apartment women want a guy to have.”
In keeping with that third point, Girls Chintai seems to focus on smaller apartments, of the size a working adult might be living alone in, but also having a romantic partner come over, and possibly spend the night, if and when he finds one. However, the company says that it welcomes both male and female customers.
In Japan, it’s common in Japan to have a real estate agent guiding you around on apartment tours. Japanese landlords generally don’t handle leasing themselves, and instead register their property with one or more agencies. So when you’re looking for a new apartment to move into, you start by looking through an agency’s listings, pick out a few that look appealing, and then go with the agent to visit the apartments before making a decision.
Girls Chintai’s “beautiful young women” angle is unique, though, but it’s appealing enough to keep them in business for close to two years now. In addition to Tokyo, they also handle apartments in the neighboring prefectures of Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba.

What? Never mind the obvious take on such a sexist arrangement, I must have a different "beautiful" gene than other rock n roll legends...
sakurasuki
Will be they nice to you? Especially when they get some portion of agent fee.

Who determines "beautiful"? Somehow, purple hair just doesn't make it for me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

So who judges who is “beautiful”?
Gaijinjland
If these single men are using this service then I sincerely doubt they will be bringing any girl back to their new place for the night willingly. It’s sexist and it’s also a little sad.
Harry_Gatto
Seems that Casey Baseel neglected to ask if the service is for Japanese only or is available for foreigners too.

At times Japan is just weird.

Many (Japanese) men are sexually frustrated and lonely; those feelings will only get worse;
this is
disturbing and
sad (!)

I’m pretty sure this has never been said by anyone in the history of life.

Wasn't it just a few months ago a Beautiful Real Estate Girl was sexually attacked and raped while showing a room to a Japanese male?

Just another fantasy that will make a lot of these guys more awkward and unable to deal with women in natural situations.

This is good for those who prefer dealing with a woman. I could see many young women being more comfortable using this service than dealing with a male agent. There are plenty of young beautiful real estate agents in western countries who do very well at their jobs. And there are lot's of agencies known for their beautiful female agents, so this is nothing new. It is too bad that so many readers of this site, like to hate on all things Japan.

Yes, we are just hating on Japan for no reason at all. It has nothing to do with this being completely sexist and treating women like objects.

They don't do Gaikokujin.

If it works for them, what's the problem? Everybody has an angle in business.

Their website translated says "Girls for Rent" "girls賃貸"
Patricia Yarrow
Women are not "girls". That is the first warning. Send two young ladies with each client, not just one, for safety. Cringeworthy on so many levels.

Yes, this is basically a porn film plot, isn't it.

Sex sells should be the "real Estate" motto
GBR48
Clever sales approach. A mix of good gimmick and added value in the opinions they can offer. I wonder if all of the people complaining would be doing so if hot guys were offered to female clients? If I was female, I would consider using their service as it would guarantee a female estate agent and I would feel safer.

Of course your personal response to this article is not the entirety of what I was commenting on, but rather on a selection of comments over the years.
Many industries around the world objectify people, of course the entertainment industry being one of the most obvious examples. With all of the maid cafe's, idols, scantily clad cheer leaders at sporting events, etc in Japan, this is hardly a shock.
In western culture, most of it is kept under wraps, but places like hooters and the like are in operation. My point is that the objectification of people is a global issue, so the perspective should be as such.
Forgive me if this is presumptuous, but I wonder how those offended by the agency in this article feel about real estate "concierges" such as Colony Reeves, of Netflix's show Selling Tampa.
It would serve many of us well to think carefully about what we read, before hastily making decisive comments.

You can add that to the 'gift money' you have to pay to get a rental property. Renting a property in Japan is a huge scam. You pay stupid amounts of money (3 months rent) to get into the rental called key money, which you never see again. Then they hit you for an extra month's rent when you renew a lease and call it 'administraion fees'. After that, when you move out they charge you ¥100,000+ and call it a cleaning fee. I challenged a couple of real estates about the 'key money' and the cleaning fee. I told them that the cleaning fee should be part of the key money I paid and I should get the balance returned to me. They just looked at me and said, "That is how it is in Japan". Three times at three different places I got the same answer. It's a blatant rip off! You can bet they add ¥100,000 to the 'key money' to have one of these trouts go with you to inspect a rental. Money you'll never see again.
