Turn your old PlayStation console into a light-up clock

If you’ve been a PlayStation fan from the very beginning, chances are you still have an original console collecting dust somewhere in the house. Sure, it’s outdated now, but who wants to throw all those fond gaming memories away?

Now there’s a creative solution that will let you get some use out of your old grey console and give you an excuse to look at it regularly throughout the day. It’s time to feast your eyes on the PlayStation clock. Unavailable in stores, but easy to make in your very own home.

Dreamed up by creative Twitter user Rurue0111, this not only makes good use of a dusty old bit of hardware, but would also look supremely cool on the wall of any gaming grotto. Why not give it a try?

Before getting started, it’s best to clear all the parts from the inside of the machine to ensure the console is nice and light and easy to work with (not to mention hang on a wall!). The next step to creating your PlayStation clock is to use a small drill to create numbers around the circular disc cover. Attaching a stencil-style template will help you with your drill-work to get a nice, professional-looking finish.

Now it’s time to attach the working clock parts. The easiest way to do this is to buy a cheap wall clock and remove the hands and clock movement. Drill a hole in the middle of the cover and then attach the pieces to the lid. You’ll have to cut a piece of the section underneath the cover to ensure the movement case fits snugly when the lid is closed.

If you want to use it as a wall clock, now’s the time to securely attach a hanging hook to the underside of the machine.

Et voila! You’ve just made a piece of art to proudly display in your home and impress all your friends.

If you want to step up your game, you can also buy a light attachment to insert into the machine.

Cool, but I rather play games on it! :D they are still great! Altough I mostly use my android-based 7-inch IPS gaming tablet for that... with pcsx D:
