200 fantasist wannabees who think its cool to call themselves ninja. The chances that any have been, or ever will be, involved in espionage, sabotage, infiltration, and assassination, is about as good as any finding a daimyo to serve lol.

Still, they pump some money into the Japanese economy, which is good.

I doubt that that is the goal of the participants. I think you should view it, as stated in the article, as a self-defense course, it's sports basically. It is sad to immediatly put them aside as fantasists SecularBeast. Assuming that all of these women desire to run around in black tights with their faces behind a mask is just short sighted.

re: ReaperInc - I think that SecularBeast's comment has to do with the bastardization of the term 'ninja' rather than what it is the participants are actually practicing. A ninja is a ninja - what defines this has already been established. To co-opt this term as a fanciful new way to describe a martial art dictum that in no way resembles the classic definition of 'ninja' is just plain wrong and, in my opinion, borders more on cosplay than martial art.

umm ya... conspiracy theorist Benjamin Fulford once said that there are legions of Ninjas ready to take out the member of the dark cabal. It must be these guys. HAHA

@tobolski - thank you, exactly.

@ReaperInc - In my youth, I practiced karate, kendo, and kyuudo, but it would be pure fantasy (and somewhat pretentious) if I thought that made me a ninja, or gave me the right to even use that title. The participants have my respect for their dedication to the martial arts, but by any true definition of the word, they just ain't ninja.

@Farmboy, @T_rex - lols.

They aren't Ninja in he historical sense of the word as an occupation. But they are modern practitioners of Ninjutsu. It's not too complicated.

This is very important; the "Inverse Ninja Law" must be preserved, so 200 trainees seems about right for confronting one hero ninja. And per the law of "Conservation of Ninjutsu" about 200 mooks should produce one elite, evil ninja for a hero ninja to face.

But seriously, I know a couple people who've taken it up, and it's like any martial art; the ultimate result is physical conditioning, grace, dexterity, and "owning" your body, with the added benefits of confidence and a capacity for self-defense. I think Aikido is better, but whatever works for you...

Only a ninja can sneak up upon another ninja

Shouldn´t a Ninja meeting be secret and invisible?
