Cats are undoubtedly one of the most popular pets in Japan. As far back as the 12th century, cats were given as gifts and have even been mentioned in Japanese folklore as nekomata or bakeneko (supernatural cat-like creatures).
Today, the love for cats lives on through the different cat islands, cat shrines and cat “station attendants.” One of the main reasons why cats are especially popular in Japan is because of the amount of work it takes to keep one. Unlike dogs, cats are more independent.
If you’re a new or seasoned cat owner and want to get to know more about your cat, the Nyanko Words Dictionary will help you decode every meow. From the smallest gestures to sleeping positions, get a better understanding of how to care for your cat. There’s also a section that covers signs of injury or illness, which could come in handy for first-time cat owners.
Priced at ¥639, it is available on Amazon or Rakuten Books.

Cat man here. I'd love a translated version of this. Dogs are great, too, but for a cat man this would make interesting reading. One of the reasons I'm a cat man is that you don't have to walk your cat 3 times a day and, in fact, you can take a 3 day trip and your cat is fine. I wonder if there is something about that in this book.

"the Nyanko Words Dictionary will help you decode every meow."
Yeah right. There's one born every minute, though it seems like more.

I've often wondered what our dogs and cat are thinking or what they are trying to say to us. They look you right in the eye and yowl, woof, meow and go wooo-wooo-wooo-WOOO. You know they are trying to communicate. Then you think if you knew what was on their minds you might not be happy to hear it :o

All cats support a certain someone for obvious reasons.

The right does seem to have a weird war on cat ladies, so yeah, there are pretty obvious reasons.
