A turn of the shoe

Wit this new tennis shoe from Yonex, you don't have to bother with tying shoelaces. There is a dial on the side of the shoes which you only need to turn to wear or take off, making it easy to slip in and out of.

The Power Cushion Wide 1000 and Power Cushion Wide 2000 cost 16,800 yen.

I don't get it. Why do you want tennis shoes to be easy to get in and out of? Tennis sessions typically last around two hours. The roles of tennis shoes and house slippers are completely at odds with each other.

it all has to do with appearance and not substance.

That sounds kinda cool!

If they want to make a useless but expensive addition, they should go for golf. Tennis is for people who have enough energy to tie their shoes.

This type of shoe has been around for ages so it can hardly be considered new. Last year I was playing with all sorts of shoes with dials instead of laces. However I went for the standard lace up in the end.

the epitome of supreme laziness...also, if tying your shoes stretches your mental capabilities, you're better off staying home

Like the boots for snowboarding? That's nothing new. This stuff has been around for years.

I think the market they're aiming for is the domestic Japanese market, where every shoe has to be easy to get in and out of or you look silly standing by the door making everyone else wait for your slow self.

Eh? How is this new? Puma did this decades ago.

I'd like to try these shoes. It really is an issue here. I hate wearing lace-ups 'cause I never know in my day when I will be obligated to slip the shoes off and don those dispicable plastic floppy pieces of degrading junk. If I could fire hose those plastic cheap slippers out of Japan I would. Why not have a bunch of nice tatatmi type zori that are comfortable and cute? Eh? Japan? Come out and fight for the right to decent slippers!!!

Great idea... tying my laces on my boots and shoes are such a time consuming pain... then when you come home or go to a Japanese persons house... you have to take off your shoes and then the whole process starts all over again when you leave... i think they had Japanese ppl in mind when they thought of this

just play tennis in sport-slippers, and leave the tennis shoe alone. If you're too lazy to lace, you already lost the game set and match
