Asahi Beer is selling a limited amount of beer with labels reproduced from the brewer's very first design from 1892.
Asahi began beer production in the Osaka area after inviting German brewmeisters to Japan.
A total of 150,000 cases of 350ml and 500ml cans will be sold, with the 1892 labels on them. Sales begin on Nov 29.

open price?

Why do they do this with Japanese beers?
They either:
a) keep the same label and change the taste (Kirin Ichibanshibori, Ebisu, Asahi SuperDry, etc.)
Or
b) change the label but keep the same taste?
And discontinue great beers (Sapporo Baisen, Kirin Stout)?

How about putting a different beer in it? I am utterly sick of Japanese beer. It ALL tastes the same.

what a good marketing ploy . pushing it as a "limited amount" so it will sell quickly. then they'll come back & say it sold so well we've decided to produce more. hope they don't put asahi dry in those cans. worst brew ever.

What's with the Nippon Uber Alles sun rays?

@SCAP65: apparently they were popular in 1892.
