Hidden behind Japan’s beautiful, rich and unique landscape lies an unstable world full of uncertainty, with the country always on the lookout for natural disasters.

Most people are well aware of the emergency procedures that they need to follow if a catastrophe should arise. However, our pets can often be left out of evacuation procedures, and as they rely on us, we need to consider the best course of action in order to evacuate them in the safest possible way.

This emergency evacuation pack is a must for dog owners up and down the country.

The pack was developed by a joint collaboration between Heiwakai Pet Memorial Parks and Guidedog comprehensive support centers located in the Kanto region.

It is easy to forget that the modern Japanese world is not as stable and safe as it may seem, with natural disasters such as earthquakes, landslides and typhoons can wreak havoc on the lives of people with just a swift turn of the tides. It is always best to be prepared for events such as these, and the Heiwakai Pet Memorial Park recommends all owners to take the time to talk with family so that you can plan ahead in case the worst happens.

Easy to install and made out of flameproof material, the pack can be attached securely with velcro around your pooch’s stomach and neck. With reflective material, the pack is even safe for use at night.

A transparent pocket allows you to place your pet’s name and your contact information on a business card sized tag just in case you get separated during an unwanted event.

On the side of the bag are large pockets that can hold emergency gear as well as rice, water, dog food and doggy poop bags. In addition, the evacuation pack comes with three first aid items that can be used to help your dog if they become injured.

First aid items included with the evacuation pack: bandage, muzzle and gloves.

The emergency evacuation bag comes in two different sizes and is priced as follows:

Small (suitable for small and medium-sized dogs) – 14,300 yen

Large (suitable for large dogs) – 16,500 yen

It’s best to be safe than sorry, so be prepared and purchase an emergency evacuation pack for your furry friend online now.

*A portion of sales made from purchases of these evacuation bags will go towards supporting guide dog breeding programs and training centers located across Japan.

Aren't pets also getting infected with COVID-19? They will need to supply a pet shelter, too!

Where is the bottle of sake or scotch? If it is the end of the world disaster your going to need to see it out with style and being a little drunk will surely help.

Had to take care of my whippet during the Kumamoto quakes. He lept up a few seconds before the s-waves arrived, so I had a bit of warning. I grabbed him in the pitch black, went downstairs, and the road in front of my house was littered with block wall debris, so I had to carry him to the wider street. This was the first time I'd succumbed to herd mentality: I just followed where other people were headed, the ground at a local school, and we spent two days there. My dog didn't complain. The last thing on his mind was a 16,000 yen emergency pack (which you could probably prepare yourself for 1/10th the price at Daiso).

What a ridiculously high price for this kit. Agree with the other poster who said you could make it yourself easily for 10% of what they are charging. Odds are you have most of the items already to begin with.

Every dog is a therapy dog.

There are better packs for dogs than this. Buy one and put your own supplies in it.
