After proving to be very popular during a limited time offer last year, Cheese Katsu Burger is returning to the menu at McDonald's from April 2. Cheese in juicy fried pork cutlets and crispy sliced cabbage in a sesame-seasoned bun come with a mix of extremely rich brown sauce and refreshing sweet lemon sauce.
The 320-yen burger will be available at every McDonald's outlet except stores in Okinawa and three prefectures in the Tokai area.

I'd take this thing with a needle if I could.
Okinawa, you got screwed.

This is chum dressed up as bait. Brrr! Frightening!

Quick! Move to Okinawa or three prefectures in the Tokai area! Seriously, this seems horrible.

It was pretty good when I tried it, I look forward to having it again....much, much better than those decadent megamacs.
noborito
MAC surely is making Japan fat.
Nessie
Is it cheese, or chiizu? And mayo?
Mark_McCracken
What? McDonald's has been in Japan for 20+ years, and Japanese haven't gotten much fatter.

It seems to have been inspired by Milan-style veal cutlets, but no self-respecting Italian chef would smear Kewpie mayonnaise on his food.

Damn that looks appetizing! Someone ship me one. I am in the States currently.

It's got to be better than their burgers....
Why not in Okinawa?

Mark_McCracken you have got to be kidding. Moved here 10 years ago and NEVER, repeat never saw a large person. Young people here are starting to get really big. I suggest you look around you a bit more. Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno... Extremely Large Japanese people everywhere. Chomping down on MAC will kill. Even their salads have more calories that acceptable for a healthy choice. Have you ever really looked at their food. Is that really meat? are those really potatoes?.... They say the meat is 100% beef, but what part of the cow. I am sure it is all the parts we don't want to know. They even admit that their fries are not 100% potatoes, but a mixture of animal fats, chemicals, to give them a better taste. But back on point. Anyone who puts these things into their mouths are getting FAT. It just a matter of Fact.

That sounds interesting. Almost like the shrimp burger my friend told me about.

Looks yummy.

Seriously, is it real cheese? Or is that a stupid question? Fake cheese is a dealbreaker for me.

noborito, I got the shock of my life at Tamasakai Costco.I went there with my son when he moved, we went to stock up his fridge. HUGE Japanese people. I'd never seen fat Japanese before. The percentage of obese Japanese shopping at Costco was much higher than in the general population. We got Costco in Amagasaki a few years ago, and over the course of those 4-5 (?) years I am seeing the same kind of increase in obese people.
In Kobe there are a lot of young girls who are pretty heavy. I've been here a long time, and this is the first time I'm seeing it.

No. It was obviously inspired by Tonkatsu, which has been eaten by the Japanese for about a hundred years.

Along with a large order of fries and a coke, this comprises the Metabo Set.
Nessie
The McMetabo-x Ranchi.

This "rich brown sauce" doesn't sound appetizing.
Nessie
I tried it today. The sauce was tolerable. The pork was good. Moister than in the chicken sandwhich. The cheese was barely noticable. Bad bun, the dealbreaker as always.
Mark_McCracken
I don't see any change in the last 18 years in Japan. People here are taller, certainly, but not fatter.
Now, if McDonald's could just bring back the Chicken Tatsuta.

What do you expect. The Japanese like to outdo the US. Why just have a burger, when you can have a burger with a fried egg and cup of mayo ontop.
