Cleavage cover to keep prying eyes away

Surely many ladies out there have, at one time or another, found themselves hesitating to wear their favorite blouse or low cut top outside for fear of exposing a little too much cleavage.

Japanese mail order fashion magazine Belle Maison is offering a fashionable and convenient solution to this problem with their “Chest Line Cover,” a piece of fabric that attaches to your bra to cover your chest and give the appearance of wearing a camisole.

The Chest Line Cover is attached by wrapping each end of the cover around the bra’s strap and snapping them into place using one of two buttons on the reverse side. The lower portion of the cover then folds neatly under the bra and you’re ready to go out without having to worry about wandering eyes every time you lean forward!

The product also promises to be a cool alternative to wearing a real camisole as Japan prepares for another hot summer made even hotter with another year of power rationing.

Since it went on sale last summer, the Chest Line Cover has been improved to fit better and adjust to more bra sizes. There are currently 6 colors available: black, white, purple, charcoal blue, grey dot and brown dot, each made from 100% cotton and embroidered at the top with lace for a touch of feminine charm.

The Chest Line Cover can be purchased online at the Belle Maison Monthly Club for 1,050 yen.

Cleavage cover to keep prying eyes away

Which cleavage if I may ask? There is a huge drought out there of cleavage in Japan!!! Instead, one would become a billionaire overnight by designing garmets to enahance women's almost invisible cleavages!

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Men imagination : no limit. Women own men.Fortunately, they rarely know it! Houra for sex appeal.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Some japonecitas do have great tatas and it is a shame that this culture tries to COVER THEM UP!!! Bastards!! Viva las TA TAS!! Banzai oppai!!!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

What's the problem with claveavage While in Japan to wear mini or super mini skirts/ pants is not a problem at all Even in winter. But there are always people who will buy this.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

If you have it flant it! If you are lacking in self-confidence, dress conservatively. Why buy a dress, blouse, alter-top, etc. Then still need someone's ridiculous (that will sell (in Japan)) invention. Dress right and you can't go wrong.
1 ( +1 / -0 )

worst invention ever?

The american solution sweats and the giant T shirt

Oh! This is bad, really bad!! I'll say females and girls, Please go on charming. !! But, well.....well I dont know, what do I say for my wife?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

To those who think Japanese women have no boobs, I am so glad you never came here to check, as you obviously didn't. The less competition, the better!

Granted most Japanese women don't have mammoth boobs, but that's okay as most mammoth boobs I see are attached to mammoths. But plenty of Japanese women have cleavage. No,don't bother checking! Just assume I am lying!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Coming from Latin America, this is a JOKE!! First, J ladies do not have ENOUGH to make nice, yummy cleavage and oh wait, them dirty boys are trying to look at my flat boobs?? I can just imagine all of my amigos from Mexico, to Cuba to Brazil and Argentina just laughing their heads off!! But ok, Japan is no North Korea and if some women here actually do have a nice pair of ta tas, say like my wife?? Well I do not want all of them dirty boys staring down there too much now, guess I am gonna have to go out and by wife, who is Japanese but thank god all mighty, her ta tats could be Mexican!!!

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

what the hell?! why would u cover up???!!! this is terrible lol @BigBoy69 "Do Japanese women even have cleavage?" LOL! no they dont

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Breasts are not necessary for fornication,

I think someone got something wrong here for fornication yes they are VERY necessary, however for, procreation, no.

This has been around in the USA for a while now. I got a pack of 3 for 9.99 at Bed, Bath & Beyond

I think sports bra might do. or t-shirt bra. again, if you buy something with low neckline, be prepared to show some flesh

Still waiting for the release of the "Man Bra".

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Well... I wouldn't get one, I'm quite happy with my breast size and I find this product kind of usless to americans. We americans love to put breast on... everything acually!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Do Japanese women even have cleavage?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Japanese women can make their own decisions whether to wear these BBs (breast bibs) or not. They certainly have no obligation to conform to standards prevailing in other parts of the world. The rest of the world? Hooters is the way to go? I can imagine where this kind of comment comes from. How about a bit of respect for a culture, a life style which is not native to yours?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Considering all Japanese bras have a cup size worth of removable padding, just take it out. Duh

Sorry choi, but we tend to be wired differently. What your stuff looks like isn't anywhere near as important as what you can do with it, and staring hard all day won't make us any the wiser about that.

OK ... wired differently... understand that, but I don't fully agree with the "it's not what you've got it's the way you use it" argument... after all a keijidousha is never going to win an F1 grand prix... and plenty of ladies enjoy admiring a Ferrari or a Mclaren...

The model in the photo does not even have cleavage!

That's because she is using this absolutely wonderful product. You shoulda seen her before. She was huge.

This is a great product. It will help prevent wondering eyes, help men avoid temptation, and help women be more modest.

The fact that so many women WANT to show their cleavage is troubling. I realize it gets them attention. I realize it works. But I don't think it is a good thing for society overall.

Unmarried men don't need any encouragement to think about sex and showing cleavage is just a hindrance to marital harmony. It may help you feel good about yourself, but only at the expense of increasing temptation for others, which in the end, is not worth it.

Do Japanese ladies really need this?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I love the scene in Friends where Joey, looking longly at the ladies, asks "... with breasts like those, how can you ever get any work done?"

I've noticed more than once that in a train car the only eyes obviously following some shapely lass are those of the foreign men. I figure that's largely the result of cultural politeness, but still wonder about all the carefully plucked fashion eyebrows of Japanese high school boys. Low testosterone?

For ladies, adopt those outlandish fasion stuff such as cleavage cover at your own peril...nobody will ever lok at you, including your husband. Just fuss for nothing. Everybody knows that you live longer by once in a while peering at some well endowed cleavage of a passers-by!

Well, this is NOT the U.S. This is Japan, buddy.. The "WE WANT BIG BOOB" American culture is not engraved here. ;-) Imagine us Foreign gals fishing around for WELL EDOWED MEN in Japan! After all, Who wants a "little" man? LOL

That said, If I'm gonna meet and be with someone just because he/she is well endowed..... (get my point?) But then again this is not 1689 we are in 2012.. Normally, nice physical attributes are praised over brains.. or so I heard ;-)

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

We do hon. We are just a LOT more subtle about it.

Really, babe?

"stare" and "subtle" sounds like a contradiction in terms...

Perhaps you mean that you take surreptitious glances?

What I mean is, ladies, don't be shy about having a good old eyeful of a guy's body...

Obviously this garment must have been developed by a woman

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't have any issue with this item. My issue is with the women who seem to want to pick & choose which guys can look at them. If you don't want people looking, wear something else.... Or go buy a "chest line cover." Won't work though- I even look at the women wearing full burghas (obviously not in Japan). All in the imagination....

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Boobs are the third thing that men look at after hip/ waste ratio and face but they are the first thing other woman look at ahead of shoes and face.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I wouldn't mind a bit if women were getting an eyeful of me...

Nor I, but I have a suspicion I would be in violation of some neighborhood public eyesore law.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Cleavage and breasts in general are absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Be proud of them, ladies.

It's a shame that women don't stare at men's bodies more... that would even things out a bit... I wouldn't mind a bit if women were getting an eyeful of me...

I don't think this thing is a good idea. We are not robots are we don't have to look like robots. I like women who look just like women. Breasts are ok, they are not evil :)

Selling cleavage covers to Japanese is like selling freezers to Eskimos.....not needed in either case.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Thankfully my girl won't be getting this as she's proud of her cleavage. Though being a D cup and blonde does mean she gets a lot of attention lol

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Fadamor - quite right. If you don't want people to look at the puppies, don't put them in the window.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Umm, here's a better idea than hiding the area with a non-matching piece of cloth... buy blouses that don't show cleavage!

One of the most annoying things in the "battle of the sexes" is when a woman wears a cleavage-revealing top, then berates men for having the gall to look. If you don't want them to look, then don't show it. Pretty simple.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

For ladies, adopt those outlandish fasion stuff such as cleavage cover at your own peril...nobody will ever lok at you, including your husband. Just fuss for nothing. Everybody knows that you live longer by once in a while peering at some well endowed cleavage of a passers-by!

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The fact of the matter is that we are living in the real world and whoever wants to expose/cover themselves, its their own business and not you or anyone has the right to tell them what to do. It's their body after all. Breast size, penis size, etc. It all comes down to low self esteem and deep insecurity. Learn to love and appreciate what you were given and live a happier life. Who cares about a woman's breasts or a man's penis size? To care about such insignificant things it shows mediocrity and lack of brains, you might wanna add self hatred to that.

This is Japan anyway, so they don't like showing cleavage but have no problem exposing butt cheeks..LOL It's perfectly fine with me, as long as it is not ME going around showing my own "butt cheeks" ;-)

And for the record. I think women (and men!) should dress the way they like. :) Your body, your life.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

A cleavage cover???

Truly, today is a sad, sad day for normal red-blooded men around the world...

2 ( +4 / -2 )

In all fairness to women, considering fabric, fit, style, etc, they never make exactly what they want plus or minus the cleaveage. Cleavage is not optional. It either comes with what they want, or it doesn't. And if they choose clothes by cleavage, it would make shopping take twice as long as it already does! So I think this is a worthy invention from that POV.

But what bothers me is that women who have something worth showing would want to cover it up. I mean, its their right, but what a waste! Even for the teacher with F cups. That is just throwing away perfectly good inspiration. I know I worked harder for certain female teachers that caught my eye. And there was absolutely nothing wrong with that! Its my human nature, and I embrace it.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

totally defeats the purpose of wearing a cleavage revealing top.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

sakuralaAPR. 25, 2012 - 09:01AM JST

I do all I can to strap my F cups in...I have even taken to wearing sports bras to work to lessen the staring...I wear teacher appropriate clothing but that doesn't mean turtlenecks everyday. If I wear a loose-ish t-shirt and happen to lean over, well then the boys rush to see down my shirt. This would prevent them from seeing anything worthwhile. Also good for the weekends when I don't need to be in my ''teacher clothes'' but still need to be covered up in case I run into them at our towns one (and only) shopping mall.

Good for you hun..must be quite entertaining to have those naughty young boys staring....lol As for me, small chest here, but if thats the price to pay for a seriously fit and toned athletic body (even after 4 kids!), then so be it. ;-)

As for exposed legs...Hmm I own long ones, but...I don't know..I wear skirts often but nothing "mini" as to expose my butt cheeks...no way! eww

-6 ( +1 / -6 )

If I had cleavage, I would show it.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Actually science solved the puzzle of boobs obsession, especially since a similar trend is not observed with other mammals. It comes from vertical walking, followed by developing a frontal position for sex. from that development, the but obsession common in the mammalian world morphed into a frontal obsession for boobs, since they are more or less similar in shape. there was a great Discovery Channel program dedicated to this research...

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@Arthur - OK, interesting, thank you. But is there a point where it all just - gets "too much"? Or is there no limit?! Again - genuine question. I see many women who get surgery and turn a perfectly nice front (IMHO) into something mammoth. Is that really worth the money??!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

leven -> level

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@OMGhontoni,

Why ARE men so obsessed with boobs?

Let me quote one of the THOUSANDS OF THOUSANDS of answers made for this question:

It's a physiological reaction. Mating instinct. Some men are attracted to breasts, whether they know it or not, because it shows the woman's capability of producing milk. Same for hips: they are showing child-bearing capability.

Actually, you can not change anything in it, it is hardware programmed in men, in the leven of the EEPROM, if not deeper. Just deal with it.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

I do all I can to strap my F cups in

F cups

And you are surprised that young men staring at you? You are luring men like flower luring bees and hummingbirds.

Also, do want photo :D

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Isn't this what used to be called a 'dickie'? Or is a dickie a fake turtleneck sweater without the sweater, just the neck?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

If only I had a pair of my own.......

You would NEVER get any work done! ;)

Just out of interest - why ARE men so obsessed with boobs? Is it simply because they dont (generally) have them? Shape? Size? Is less more? Or bigger is better? Genuine questions. Its a really interesting topic and one that doesnt genrally come up in conversation in mixed company.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

If they have a hard time with showing cleavage, I guess we can't expect the side-boob to make an appearance anytime soon.

Drat!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Why not wear a camisole in the first place?

Because that means wearing two layers, and I'm sure you understand that one layer is more comfortable in summer here.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

It's like wearing a burqa over a bikini at the beach.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Sleeve extensions and leg extensions in the form of those office thingies for arms and tights/leg warmers for legs have as their purpose protecting shirt sleeves from getting ink, etc on them and keeping legs warm while still showing them off. They are not at opposite purposes. For example, wearing a short sleeve shirt or shorts and then putting something to cover up. That is what this seems to be. It does not make any sense to say, I want to wear a low cut blouse that shows cleavage, but I don't want anyone to see my cleavage, so I will buy this thing. Just don't buy the blouse in the first place. This item does not make any sense.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

In the USA you see cleavage, in Japan you have to settle for exposed legs. C'est la vie.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

JapanGal

Breasts are not necessary for fornication, so there is something odd about men in general

JapanGal, men are absolutely hardwired to appreciate women's breasts, it's a very, very difficult thing to attempt to deny yourself. I can only really speak for myself, but I have to say, I absolutely Iove women's breasts. They are entirely wonderful. Triumphs of evolution. If only I had a pair of my own.......

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Just don't wear a revealing shirt or dress if you don't want your cleavage ogled.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

These bra covers have been available for years.

But we say, free the birds! Share what fortune bestowed ya!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@Seawolf

gyouza - maybe you could start wearing a man's bra, I'm sure you will find them on the Net...

Never heard of them, sounds dead weird. Do you help you in anyway?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I just find it hilarious that this has become one of the most popular stories on here today

3 ( +4 / -1 )

No need for this at all. Uniqlo makes nice "undershirts" that do the trick. They aren't hot - if anything, they do a fantastic absorbing the sweat. No need to be flashing anyone.

And yes, I laugh at this. I sat outside yesterday and watched some of the uni girls where I wirk. I have no idea how many butt cheeks I saw. They would have pennies thrown at them and lewd comments back home. Completely clueless about how skanky they look. Fine if you have a great body but not all of them.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Now women finally have something to cover their bras with when they leave the house.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Now women finally have something to cover their bras with when they leve the house.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Haven`t really noticed much cleavage to cover up here in Japan. Love the short skirts and shorts though!!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

All the power to them if women want to wear such a 'garment'; I'm just not sure why someone would wear shirts that reveal cleavage if they're so concerned they need to cover it up.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Personally I think men seek to view the nipple. But I find it odd that women do not and both were breast fed. Breasts are not necessary for fornication, so there is something odd about men in general. Just use two big band aids and cover your nipples if so concerned.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Wow, something to make women even more uncomfortable in the summer. Imagine how hot it gets with bra + top + this thing.

And to think but a few decades ago breasts weren't even considered erotic in Japan. How things change.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Often the problem of finding appropriate dress rests with what is being sold. Low necklines are in and have been for some time. It's been very hard for several seasons now to find a boat-neck or crew-necked summer dress or top with ballet sleeves suitable for the office. Women need clothes that are business-like but light enough to be but cool. Allure in a modest way is quite possible--except that no one is selling that look in the stores. Everything sold scoops or plunges. Sleaze reigns.

Sakuraia hasn't got a hope of finding anything suitable. An F cup is not an easy blessing to have. Cleavage for breasts that size starts at the collar bone. I doubt the little patch will do anything for her. The only option women with cleavage have is to go back to their sewing machines and defy the fashion industry.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Sometimes you just really like the fabric, the print, or some detail of the shirt. I have a dress that I really like, but I'm not too fond of the back. It has an opening, and some people have told me they originally thought the fabric had a rip in it. In the case of cleavage, yes, a shirt underneath it would do as well. However, this is an extra layer of clothing, so it's warmer. So, I can understand if women buy it. I also understand men not liking it. :P

0 ( +1 / -1 )

In that dark colour, it looks like a habaya or hijab for the chest....

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I think its more like: If the RIGHT man is looking, then no problem, BUT if the wrong one is looking some get offended"

Can't have your cake and eat it too, you can't pick and decide when you are offended, you either are offended by all or none.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

This device will hide the fact most J ladies padded their bra.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

...found themselves hesitating to wear their favorite blouse or low cut top outside for fear of exposing a little too much cleavage

Then what was the point of buying that favourite blouse or low cut top if they then buy one of these?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Sakurala - good luck, I feel your pain. Summer here gives me nightmares

I think too that the 'staring threshold' in Japan is a lot lower than it is OS, at least in my country. What I mean is that a little bit seems to go a long way here, probably because it's a lot less common. AND - cleavage aside, you can be wearing the baggiest of turtlenecks and still be stared at. It isn't always about covering up, being physically different is simply sometimes enough to attract attention.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Thanks all for the support of my rather chesty chest! Now only if I could harness your support in my daily life :P Jk...my husband is very happy with my endowments and supports me often.

dolittlebelate: I usually do wear a camisole but in summer it can get unbareably hot. And since we may (or may not) have power outages this summer, this will help me kep cool while looking respectable.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

I don't get it. Next we'll see sleeve extensions for short sleeves blouses and leg extensions for shorts so people don't have to show their arms and legs?

The sleeve extensions exist too!! Older ladies especially love them.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Those probably already exist.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Oh, my gosh! So, what's the problem if shows cleavage? What a big deal!!!!!!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

if they hate men (boys) staring, just wear something that is not low cut or not using sheer fabric. the very reason a blouse is low cut or made from sheer materials is to flaunt what is there to flaunt.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Soon they'll be making their own version of "Iron Chastity Belts" for those who wish to add extra protection when dating. The belts will come in gold, silver and bronze tones with inner pads made of 100% cotton and embroidered at the top with lace for a touch of feminine charm.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

This is an inane invention. Why not wear a camisole in the first place? Philosophy like around my workplace: if you have a problem, instead of removing or fixing it, add stuff to it to cosmetically cover up it's effects only.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Woman want to look sexy but don't want men to look at them?

I think its more like: If the RIGHT man is looking, then no problem, BUT if the wrong one is looking some get offended"

3 ( +5 / -2 )

This shud be AGAINST THE LAW Hahaha!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I can agree with that but here on those rare occasions where I do see cleavage or a low cut-top it's a lot more attention grabbing than it was back in my home country.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I'm so grateful for Japan and no cleavage showing. It's so hard for my eyes to keep eye contact when speaking to cleavage. It was stressful for me. Back home. I hated getting caught. It's just me. Most men love getting caught but that's just too perverted for me and for the Mrs.

-3 ( +4 / -6 )

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Search for "CamiSecret Dub" on Youtube, by JaboodyDubs... Hilarious voiceover for an infomercial for the same product sold in the US.

I have also wondered why boob cleavage is so taboo here, whereas shorts that dont even cover the butt line are A-Ok. Not that i am complaining on the latter part.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Just wear something with a high neck, if you are going to have your cleavage showing you have to expect men to look.

sakurala san ... telling us you have F cups WOW!! A rarety in Japan, you teaser The boys looing at you, all part of them growing up. You might even have some negotiating power for good behaviour, lol Can I come to your class??

On a more serious not I can't believe people would buy these things, must be unique to japan!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

This is a terrible invention.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Terrible invention, bad it immediately.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

sakurala - don't be so mean - by now you must have driven those boys crazy :))) Luckily our highschool teachers never had such second thoughts :)

3 ( +4 / -1 )

This is pretty funny. There was a distinct lack of cleavage in Japan when I was there. But I tell you what, the few times I make it out to where the young kids (18-25) hang out in Australia these days I CAN'T BELIEVE what the girls get around in. The point of dress standards these days here seem to be to show as much of your body as you can without being naked. Cleavage?! I'm more concerned I'll see nipples on display with one false girly move - it's pretty wild. I'm no prude, far from it, but the whole stripper/hooker look that has become normal in Australia is a loooong, loooong way from this kind of modestly in Japan.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Well, apparently somebody is buying this.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I didn't think anyone could come up with something worse than the burka, but there it is.

19 ( +21 / -3 )

boo! we want cleavage!

(I'm so starved of cleavage here in Japan that every time I go home my eyes are popping out of my head!)

7 ( +10 / -4 )

I agree with OMGhontoni! Be proud of what God gave you! Hooray for boobies!

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Think I might need one of these, but since I don't wear a bra, I'll have to find another way of not exposing that other atrocity that appears on chests (usually male ones) - hair!!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Could someone please explain why cleavage is such a problem in Japan?

Women are as afraid of their own feminine power, as a lot of the men are in encountering it.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Manaita (cutting board)-like flat chest and with a bra at least 3 numbers too big... Of course everything (but not much) is in full view of a tall guy (like me) squeezed in an overloaded train... Can't help but wonder why don't they learn how to buy bras first...

Nancy - cleavage is not a problem in Japan. Some ladies wear smart clothing, capitalizing on what nature gave them, without displaying everything... Others, like I just wrote, don't know how to choose bras and shirts and basically leave their boyish chests in full view...

I agree with paulinusa! Favorite, but not favorite?

Aren't there more appropriate teacher clothes in boy schools than wearing an open bra? If you wear a decent shirt over your bra, that cleavage nonsense would not matter.

Well, I think I will be investing in some of these! I am a teacher at a junior high school and constantly have boys staring longingly at my chest. I don't think I am showing much cleavage but the boys search for it like a lost treasure. This cover will help me feel a bit better about it and cooler in summer.

Well if they're pretty big they'll draw attention cleavage or not. I would hope that, as a teacher of young boys, you would make the effort to cover up.

Could someone please explain why cleavage is such a problem in Japan?

"...hesitating to wear their favorite blouse or low cut top outside for fear of exposing a little too much cleavage."

So why is it their "favorite" and yet it exposes too much cleavage? Something here doesn't compute.

Hilarious, Japan seems to have a problem with women showing cleavage. Yet they are more than happy walking around in shorts and skirts that leave nothing and l mean absolutely nothing to the imagination. Yet you see one but of cleavage and oh no shock horror.

big shock for beauty praying eyes !

Surely many ladies out there have, at one time or another, found themselves hesitating to wear their favorite blouse or low cut top outside for fear of exposing a little too much cleavage.

Maybe in Japan but in the rest of the world - er......nope! Be proud of what nature gave you, I say! Why does everyone think Hooters is doing so well and opening a second restaurant in Japan? Not because of fake camisoles you can attach to your bra, I guarantee it!
