Make the most out of your summer holidays by packing easy-to-prepare meals while on the go. While eki-ben (packed lunches for train rides) are the most popular option, they aren’t the cheapest if you’re traveling on a budget. Plus, they’re made way in advance, so oftentimes, you have to eat it cold.
Instead of relying on the eki-ben selection, why not pack your own lunch? The Thanko two-tier rice cooker is portable and convenient. Unlike eki-ben, you’ll never have to eat a cold meal on-the-go again. It can prepare a main dish and cook rice in under 15 minutes. Whether you want to reheat a meal you’ve already prepared or try out one of the frozen food items at konbini (convenience store), you’ll definitely be saving more.
The rice cooker comes with a 50-ml measuring cup, an instruction manual (in Japanese), a storage pouch, and a power cable.
Available for ¥7,980 on the Thanko online store.

Interesting device, would be even better if could have its own battery, no need to plug into electricity.

Even though I reluctantly had to move back to the US, I eat Japanese style rice daily. I could use one of these. I don't live here on Japan Today as some people do. I actually have things to do. I'm quite often hours from home and have to eat something. This would make my lunch better than a fast food dump and satisfy my rice craving, too. Until dinner.
