The Qi-certified (global wireless power standard) wireless charger, Chargepad, allows you to charge your gadgets' portable batteries on the go and wherever you wish by simply placing them on top of the pad.

Sales start on June 24. Price: approximately 5,000 yen.

I still dont get the point. The pad still has to b connected to a power source using cable. But im sure there is a reason to this gadget. Could soneone fill in what the article is missing.

Does it work for any batteries? Can I put any device on here? I think you need to have a Qi battery or device right?

Compared to a simple cable it is a waste of money and electricity.

My handset charges by USB, which seems a much better (and cheaper) solution than this.
