Energy Shaker

Meiji has released a new type of energy drink that contains a carbonated, Jello-like product. You must shake the can gently to break apart the gelatin before drinking.

While gelatin drinks are not new, this product, called Perfect Plus Energy Shaker, contains a variety of minerals, vitamins, and amino acids, as well as caffeine for energy.

Meiji says the product is targeted at males in their late teens to 40s looking for a boost at school, work, or before sports activities. A 180 ml can retails for 168 yen.

it's carbonated so I wouldn't suggest shaking it, like the label suggests

None of my local stores have it. Oh well.

I can't attest to EXACTLY what is in this drink, but just getting enough sleep is not always enough if you want energy all day.

Another factor is eating frequent, smaller meals to keep your metabolism up.

Also, for those people giving this drink flak for being Japanese, remember that Japan is one of the last countries in the civilized world to embrace Red Bull.

Speaking of Red Bull, independent studies have shown that athletes who consume Red Bull before strenuous activity actually see a marked boost in stamina and performance. So no, energy drinks aren't all just sugary coffee alternatives.

hmm... it failed to mention the after crash that you will experience 1 hr after u drank this...

That's when you go and buy another one! lol.

I think one every once in awhile is fine like lostrune2 said but eating healthier and sleeping is best. But I read/heard of the pressures of staying at work all night and day, studying all night and day and so on. Got to be tough to do that. I wouldn't be able to function without a good nights sleep.

Energy drinks are for emergencies. Such as when you didn't get enough sleep for some reason, or an unexpected all-nighter.

... try a good night's sleep as an energy booster.

I tried one of these, tasted like crap- still, not as bad as the shiso pepsi though.

I like some of the jelly drinks.

Wait! this is Japan.

Yes, even the Japanese know that some marketing ideas and products are for them. I visited the seasonal gifts delivery store recently to find a gift for my freinds. I met a very sweet young salesman and he asked me why I was looking for a gift from that section. I said that it was because I liked the way the gift is wrapped and presented. He said that this was for the Japanese people (not in the racist sense) and for the Japanese style of doing things. He led me to another section, helped me to select what I wanted and got the gift wrapped very beautifully. The gift was significantly less expensive than what I first selected. He laughed and said that some things are absurdly expensive and the locals like it that way. I started chatting with him, and he said he lived in the UK. Instantly fell in love ith the guy.

Another marketing fad. Exercise, 7-8hrs. sleep, and a good diet and mind is all you need. Wait! this is Japan.

Mai troubles with energy drinks has always been the same.. i use most of mai energy to AVOID drinking them.. they taste so so bad! it is like so much medicine.. it seems that it is intentionally made to taste hidoi?? Eating coins would give me minerals and eating grass would help me with upset tummy.. if only by making me throw up everything inside.. but when the coins and weeds taste BETTER than the expensive can of energy drink i think there is something fundamentally WRONG with that whole idea. If you want me 2 drink your drink, make it at least TASTE good ne?

sure, you can get plenty of sleep, if you're not watching the World Cup

B2 or not B2, that is the question.

Bet you it's loaded with sugar.

Sugar is energy.

Why do they have to put jelly in them? It feels like you're swallowing something you shouldn't swallow.

Drinks should be liquid in liquid form.

these energy drinks are a joke...if you eat right, get plenty of sleep, and exercise...u won't need them!

And there was me thinking that old-fashioned sleep was enough. Wonder if this is metabo-compatible.
