Folding fan parasol is umbrella that does it all

Stay cool for the summer with this one-of-a-kind invention from Thanko.

During summer in Japan, it's not an uncommon sight to see people out on the streets with a sun parasol and portable, battery-powered fan in tow. While this set-up keeps the sun damage and sweat away, the downside is you’ve probably got both your hands full.

Thankfully, the folks at Thanko have made an umbrella built to withstand both rain and shine that can do it all. With the invention of the Thanko Folding Fan Umbrella-Parasol, you can feel a gentle breeze from the fan above you and stay protected against harmful UV rays all at the press of a button.

Gone are the days when you’d have to struggle balancing holding both the umbrella and fan because, with this umbrella, you’d have both in the palm of your hand.

The Thanko Folding Fan Umbrella-Parasol is compact and portable weighing a mere 460 grams. It takes 4.5 hours to in order to fully charge this device for up to three hours of use. Prices start at ¥5,980.

Nice idea but 6000 yen is a bit pricy for something whose durability is totally unknown. Must be very durable and it's a tall order for an umbrella that is destined to be handled pretty rough.

Not sure about the fan part of the parasol, but the parasol is a very good idea.

By the way, we saw the skeleton of a 2,600 year old parasol in a museum in Tarquinia, Italy. It looked like it could have been made yesterday.
