G-SHOCK MR-G watch

Casio Computer Co has announced the latest addition to the flagship MR-G Series in the G-SHOCK family of shock-resistant watches. The new G-SHOCK MRG-G1000 features a key technology in the company’s analog watch strategy — a new hybrid solar-powered timekeeping system that receives both Global Positioning System (GPS) signals and radio wave time-calibration signals.

This advanced timekeeping system receives both GPS signals and radio wave time-calibration signals transmitted from six stations worldwide, enabling it to maintain accurate time anywhere in the world. In areas where radio waves are available, the watch prioritizes receipt of radio wave signals. In areas without radio wave coverage, the system adjusts the time based on the location information obtained using GPS signals.

The MR-G Series combines the solid look of every G-SHOCK shock-resistant watch with luxury materials and superb finishing, resulting in a watch that delivers both toughness and refinement. Standing at the pinnacle of the G-SHOCK line, the MR-G Series is appreciated by those looking for a sophisticated G-SHOCK watch that stands the test of time.

The new G-SHOCK MRG-G1000 watch has been finely crafted down to the very smallest detail. It features the groundbreaking hybrid solar-powered timekeeping system employed in other G-SHOCK and OCEANUS watches, keeping time by receiving both GPS signals and radio wave time-calibration signals. Advanced performance in a tough yet refined watch design—this is what users can count on in the MR-G Series.

With just a push of a button, the watch corrects the time if needed in as little as seven seconds using either GPS signals or radio wave time-calibration signals, keeping accurate time anywhere in the world.

An outer case made of lightweight and rust-resistant titanium is finished with superb Sallaz polishing, a superlative metal-polishing technique that creates a solid, yet refined look. The watch has been designed to protect the crown and buttons without requiring extra protective parts, achieving high performance module in a modest size.

The face features sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating for scratch resistance and high visibility, while the bezel is dual surface-coated to withstand scratches. Large side buttons carved from metal and multidimensional index marks realized through proprietary fine metal crafting techniques yield a refined watch made with the very finest attention to detail.

Price: Around 300,000 yen.

Both "GPS signals and radio wave time-calibration"?! Can you say that again? Didn't register the first 30 times. . .

Sauron - any google search can tell you this, but the GPS signal sent from satellites orbiting the Earth contains milisecond accurate time information (therefore can be used for setting the watch). Radio-wave calibration is referring to the signals sent from antennas in various locations around the world with the same purpose, setting the watch to an accurate time.

Does anyone know if this watch works by GPS signals and radio wave time-calibration?

300,00Yen can buy me lots of gadgets most of which tells time too plus what they're designed to do as well. Pass.

Well, less than half the price of a basic stainless steel Rolex GMT, a Breitling Navitimer or Omega Seamaster. It's about 100,00 less than a Seiko Astron.
