Hokkaido-based brewery Abashiri Beer recently released ''Shiretoko Draft.'' The company said it developed the green beverage inspired by the color of the woods in the Shiretoko wildlife area, a UNESCO world heritage site, on the northernmost Japanese main island. Alcohol content is 5%. A six-pack of 330-ml bottles costs 2,520 yen.

Hmmm. I have a theory about what originally inspired European brewmasters to create yellow beer, but think I'll keep it to myself.

This should be popular on St. Patrick's day.

A six-pack of 330ml bottles costs 2,520 yen? I won't be buying that.

That better be some tasty beer 2520 yen!

Heck, I can buy a six-pack of 350ml cans of tasty Yebisu for about 1,200 yen. This green stuff can't possibly taste more than twice as good.

Still cheaper than drinking Nodogoshi-nama on tap in a pub.

That's a resonable price for decent beer.

But the big question is, what color will your pee be after drinking one? I remember drinking "green" beer at a bar on St. Pat's day in the States, and being amazed at the color the food coloring made my pee. Shiretoko Draft is very expensive, so I would think there must be something more than just a green color. Hopefully it has a great taste. Looks a bit like melon soda though....

Overindulgence will result in green vomit - a refreshing change from the yellow and pale orange pools found in cities around the world.

Alcohol - makes urban purgatory into paradise as you slide into hell.

How so? Good beer can be had for just over 1,000 yen for a six-pack of 350 ml cans.
"Abashiri Beer"
If they changed the "b" in Abashiri to a "w" it would be "Awashiri" or Head-Butt Beer! Hee hee!

something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it

At that price I wont bother. I can always just buy a regular beer and add a drop of food colouring!
