Häagen-Dazs has released a new Green Tea Classic Crispy Sandwich Ice Cream in Japan, which it describes as "quality" ice-cream with a coating of sweet green tea between two fragrant wafers. The ice creams are available now and cost 270 yen.

It's heaven in a (cold) box! To those of you who would rather pass up on this one, you're making a big mistake.

green tea ice cream... well i know it tastes better then garlic ice cream that they sell on the way to gilroy.. i wouldn't mind trying it. but shamefully.. all the good stuff always comes out in japan first.

I think it's great too, but I think it can definitely taste a little "grassy" without some other flavor present. There's one of those little cups with green tea and oreo. That one's awesome.

Can't believe you guys don't like green tea ice cream. I am absolutely addicted to it and the one by Häagen-Dazs is the best for sure. I was also under the impression that that crispy sandwich existed before.

Yep, Cleo, me too.
With cherry vanilla, please.

"green tea ice cream"
How come there's no oolong tea ice cream or mugi tea ice cream or black tea ice cream?
Green tea does not belong in ice cream. Who puts sugar or milk in their green tea? Nobody! So why is it in ice cream?

Maybe I'll try it if I can find it...but I am NOT going out searching for it.

I'm sure a green tea version of this existed when I was still living in Japan, 6-7 years ago. I normally prefer my matcha whisked with hot water, rather than as some form of confectionery, but this was quite nice, IIRC.

I love Haagen-Dazs ice cream, but Green Tea? Nah. I'll give this a miss.
@pamelot - the crispy sandwich does come in different flavours. I've seen (and been unable to resist tasting) vanilla and caramel, both scrumptious. I think I may have once had a maple one that was sheer heaven, but I haven't seen that flavour since and I'm beginning to wonder if it was in my dreams.
If they made a half-size version I think I would buy it more often. Eating a whole one makes me feel decadent and self-indulgent.

Shall we?

Why aren't more flavors made available, other than "grass".

Yummy!

Price is way to high, and does the tea ice cream glow in the dark?
Just wondering.
