Haagen-Dazs Japonais line takes on Italian and Japanese desserts for kinako tiramisu ice cream

Haagen-Dazs Japan aren’t shy about experimenting with distinctly Japanese ingredients in their ice cream. Every year is like a rolling lineup of exciting limited edition flavors including tastes often found in traditional Japanese desserts such as soybean, purple sweet potato, and the ever-popular matcha green tea powder.

But the range in which these flavours take on a whole new fancier image is Haagen-Dazs’ Japonais series, which was created in association with convenience store 7-Eleven to present a genuine taste of Japan.

Their newest creation is a Japanese take on an Italian classic, the Kinako Tiramisu. Kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) sorbet creates a rich sweetness, while another layer is made up of mascarpone ice cream and kinako (roasted soybean flour). The tiramisu-inspired ice cream’s bottom level is made up of espresso syrup-soaked sponge with even more kinako flavor. The top layer is sprinkled with lightly roasted kinako to ensure its scent hits your nose as soon as you open the lid.

Haagen-Dazs’ Japonais range can only be found in 7-Elevens, costing 334 yen plus tax.

And if you love to see Japanese takes on Italian desserts, how about a green tea tiramisu tasting set?

Haagen-Dazs is actual real ice cream. Its not cheap but whatever is cheap is fake chemical/dairy waste trash. I urge everyone to give up the fake and pay for the real.

This new flavor is definitely not for me however.

I’ll pass, especially on the Kinako too expensive for the little bite, way overrated. Rather buy some Ben and Jerry’s.

The recent new HD flavours have been rubbish. Let’s hope this is a return to form.

Italians make the best real fruit ice creams.

That’s debatable for some people yes, but not for everyone.

The pope's summer castle just outside of Roma, Castel Gandolfo, is the place to go and taste some of the best Italian ice cream. Also to taste and buy some white wine.

If that’s the case, I’ll go for the wine then which is pretty good.

I definitely agree with that!

Ice cream is fairly easy to make and a lot cheaper than buying-I’ll be doing so tomorrow!
