FYI the ChromeCast does not stream from mobile devices (laptops, notebooks, tablets, phones) to the TV, the mobile device simply sends the URL to play to the device, the device itself then loads the content over WiFi. Thus it totally depends on how fast/stable your Wireless connection is and can not take advantage of Japan's advanced 4G+ Mobile Networks. Its still an interesting device though... and does support Netflix contrary to the comment above: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/10378

Bought one the other day, and i am loving it. Using AllCast on my phone i can stream things direct from my phone to it, and I am fairly sure any wired internet connection in this country will beat 4G mobile speeds. VideoCast on Chrome lets me stream my local movies to the TV too. D-TV from docomo is available, and of course Youtube etc

However, bcmoney, i believe Bad2Dbone is complaining about the fact that to use Netflix here in Japan, you need to have it go through a VPN so that netflix thinks you are still in the US. But since the CC connects to your Wifi router directly, it does not go through the VPN, and then netflix blocks you.

Solution would be to have a router that makes the VPN connection for you. There arent many that can though.
