Honda's new Giorno scooter is a reincarnation of a 1992-99 model. Made in China, it features an air-cooled, single-cylinder, two-stroke engine and a “bubbly” design replete with curves. Comes in seven color variations. 159,600 yen

Single stroke engine? There's no such thing, unless Honda has invented something new.

The color looks cool.

Specs for the old 50cc Model specify single cylinder Two -Stroke engine.

Review says under-powered and weak Brakes, hope they sorted those.

made in china.....sigh.... 1600 bucks (roughly), that is one expensive moped!

Had one of these.. very retro cool.. and they move too. alot quicker off the mark than a honda dio.. well quick as a 49cc will allow

Agree they look nice and should sell well. Hey, the SuperCub 100 is still a hot seller worldwide.

Used to own a "Honda Spacy 125 Striker" in Maroon, that thing moved.

Price is ok for a new scooter.

I thought 2-stroke engines were not allowed any more in Japan, because of pollution problems?

Am I missing something, or did the reviewer mean to write "4-Stroke"?

Coolasapool:

They look cute, but 50 cc is simply underpowered. You can not keep up in traffic with those. I have a 100 cc scooter now, and that is the absolute minimum to be (somewhat) safe.

My husband had one of these, but it was stolen from our apartment.

Around 4 years later the police recovered it, but it was in such a poor condition, we asked them to scrap it. Poor thing.

2 stroke is quite fast and light for 50cc, change the muffler for less air restriction, CDI and air intake on them and you'll easily hit him 65km/h

maybe they should outsource production to some country to africa then? prices should come down if chad, niger, uganda were to assemble it.

or maybe they shouldnt outsource it at all.

This would be nice if you lived out in the middle of no where like say, Nagano in the summer time, but here in Tokyo, cool scooter trying to keep up with traffic, no thanks! Easy way to end up in the hospital or 6 feet under!

I wonder how noisy it is. Those little "Gorilla" things are the worst.

Honda Giorno is a retro styled scooter and Honda has done a darn good fine job with their take on this style. There isn't a sharpline anywhere on the bodywork. The dash features a very nice chrome surround. Even the numbers on the speedometer are scripted in retro style. There is one big difference that separates Giorno from many of the Italian scooters. Metal, steel, and iron. The Giorno handles well. It features a softer suspension and is comfortable to ride. This scooter has style with a reliable engine and looks great. Just try riding one. It's cool.
